I have high hopes for these two, and I'm hoping this season Gosling proves his worth as to whether he is a good premier league player on a regular basis. As it is still undecided for me... as is guthrie!

Looking forward to Ben Arfa. I'm convinced he'll be fine and come back as good as ever. He seems to have a genuine will to do well for this club. Gosling looked ok at everton. He didn't pull up any trees but scored some vital goals. Anything we get from him is a bonus. I believe we've taken a risk that he can get back fully fit. If he does then great but if not it's obviously a mistake by the club. Who knows but sometimes you have to take a punt. They obviously felt his potential warranted it.

The Situation - I can help you out on Guthrie. He's utter gash! Lazy, gives the ball away loads, not very athletic, and gives stupid freee kicks away all the time. I fully expect he'll be on his way this summer.

If Ben Arfa plays like he used to (which I think he will) then he will be brilliant. Things are looking up for us. <ok>

Good news on them cant wait to see them playing again

and 'The situation', don't listen to anyone who says Guthries ****, if he got to play regulally i'm convinced he would show he can be premiership standard. he was **** against West Brom at the start of the season but when he came in for Nolan and Tiote he looked great

Been going to all the home and away games for quite a while now and can usually get over the close season ok, but although the season has barely been over for a week I've got withdrawal symptoms already.

A bit harsh on Guthrie, don't you think? He's a decent creative spark with his passing ability, can score a few(shown in the Championship mind) & has got good box-to-box ability. Good back-up IMO, wouldn't cry if he went though. <ok>

Apologies to the situation. Sorry when I read that back it came across as a bit pompous! Sorry I just don't rate the lad. As Sanchino says ok in championship. Not sure about box to box Sanchino! The little fat git barely leaves the centre circle! My problem is them free kicks. Winds me up something bad as they're all petty little kicks. He tends to give them away in bad areas too. I think we've signed his replacement in Cabaye. Really like this lad, watched him a fair bit in ligue 1. Might take him a while to settle but I think he'll have Nolan worried for his place when we play two up top. The thing with Guthrie is produces that creative spark once in a blue moon. I like his attitude away from the pitch, just seems to keep his head down. But he doesn't seem to like running about and those stray passes kill you in the PL.

Guthrie's shocking loss of the ball in midfield against West Brom away for their 2nd goal (he kicked the ground) has formed my opinion for him for most of the season. He has shown flashes of quality since but im unconvinved to say the least.

Aye probably would have played more if he didn't have to play against Man U. Great attitude from him to play in that game

I just watched that Ben Arfa Vs Everton video again and I just hipe he's as good when he comes back!
He's playing in the middle (AM role) a lot in that game so Pardew seems to have got it right there

Guthrie's got a great attitude for sure, effectively gave up his end of season to answer the call when he was the only one who could play, doesnt complain, but is fairly ambitious in that he would like to be a starter for us. On the pitch I think after a run of 2 or 3 games he is very good, but when we play him once every month or two he isnt match sharp and gives the ball away.

What annoys me with Guthrie haters is the fact that they seem to disregard every other game bar the **** ones he had at the beginning of the season (where he was coming back form injury I believe!)

Fact is, he has potential and only just turned 24. CM is one of the hardest positions to play when you're inexperienced (on the wing you can get the odd cross in and seem fine, but in CM, if you're not on it - particularly when you're playing 2 v 3 already (like at West Brom) - you'll get shown up.

He's definitely fine back-up and I reckon, if he can get a bit of experience (whether with us or not) and sort out his defensive game, then he'd be a very good player. He has time to do it. Let him
