Why on earth is this guy in charge of football? Clueless and corrupt are just two things that come into my head when i think of this guy, how he keeps hold of FIFA presidency is beyond me. Someone Swiss in charge, their league is 3rd rate as well as their national team so how can he claim to no whats for the good of the game? I wish seems its our game, that we could just take it away from FIFA and find another organisation to keep our game clean (not the fa though) because im fed up of all this b******s. Rant over.
I'm surprised an email campaign to the sponsors now speaking up hasn't been initiated somewhere. That's where the power for change lies, not in the FA complaining.
I have read that some sponsors are urging FIFA not to go ahead with the election yet, but all i can see happening is Blatter getting in for a few more years yet.
I think the current FIFA setup is like a house of cards - once one member withdraws their membership, loads more will follow. Will England lead the way (again)? Doubtful, given our current encumbents
I don't think the FA are capable of anything, they can't even control the clubs in the Premier league so how they expect to control FIFA is beyond me.
was going to start a thread on this whole mess but found this already FIFA are corporation not an organisation. They generate billions and it certainly is not shared back out and put back into football, they are not a non profit org, these are usually very transparent and FIFA are not, the money that flies around that org iwould make yer head spin, and Bin did buy the world cup for qatar because noone would vote for the world cup to be there except its nearest neighbours. Lets be clear though, England are just as guilty for harvesting votes and well, qatar have a **** load of cash and were always going to outmuscle most other vote harvesters. Football matters have to first surpass corporate politics before they pass normal and usual scrutiny, in such an environment a good idea may be canned via politics, a change to tech again has to go through this wrongling, add in the fact that there are over 200 associations it makes it even worse. FIFA need ot break up and be replaced piece by piece and the world governing body should hence forth be made of members who actually are employed by all 200 odd associations. I remember when hte lotto was meant to be non profit too.. a long time ago. Rafa said football was a lie. Rafa was eluding to something much bigger than match fixing. As said by an englsih gentleman yesterday on BBC, it was far worse when the FA ran it, FIFA are a lesser evil, and I agree the FA suffer as much the same affliction as FIFA, and don't get me started on the FAI, flying first class while the team fly economy to a world cup. All organisations with money pumped into them the way the FA and FIFA have money pumped into them creates an environment for corruption to fester Give your kid 2 grand a week pocket money every week no matter what he behaves like and see what it does to him after a few years, no dont you will destroy the kid Just a simple analogy or what is happening with non profit orgs, I have a mate that worked for concern IT and the money wastage he told me about was shocking. P.S. Oh year, Blatter, he's a politician backscratcher authoritarian, he would make an awful president of a country, he and FIFA are selfserving, not football serving. Interested only in the status quo. FIFAs state of rigid political uselessness is encapsulated perfectly by the lack of candidates to run against Blatter and the fact that all his contenders were mired in corruption charges, and lets face it, they could have been instigated at the very beginning internally by FIFA.. leaving one candidate. hmmmm
BringBackfootie An interesting input. I do feel however that critism of FIFA has increased due to England not getting the world cup, IMO i wanted the 2018 world cup in Russia and not the UK because it has never been there and is an increasingly powerful football nation who deserves its opportunity in the limelight, the thing that got me is the way FIFA went about it, nobody, and i mean nobody would have put together a bid as good as ours and if FIFA wasn't so corrupt we would have had it. Sepp Blatter needs to leave football before it turns into an utter joke as does Platini ( who i believe wants to make football a non-contact sport??? come on sort it out! ) As for Qatar having it in 2022, do me a favour if you can't see this was bought you need to open your eyes! My solution would be to have the Chairman of each FA as a FIFA rep and then everybody gets 1 vote for the concerning matter and we should be able to see who voted for who to make it more transparent and to avoid the farce that has recently gone on.
To be fair, I don't think anybody likes Sepp Blatter. The amount of rubbish that comes out of his mouth is amazing. Did anybody catch the press conference he did? When a difficult question was asked, he would answer a completely different question! And then he asked for respect! I don't understand how he can ask for respect if the organisation he has been running for about 10 years is corrupt from top to bottom.
unfortunately even these new cash rules will keep the big clubs big and the small clubs small, no tech has teh same effect as the big clubs get the decisions mostly. The seeding benefits the big clubs and internationally the seeding is not at all reflective of how teams are ranked in reality. FIFA and UEFA are power hungry empire building organsiations always looking at how they can expand and generate more income, for a non profit org they devote some resourses for generating income. They have on more than one occasion had the cheek to tell a government not to interfere. Why is this an example of their power madness? The rules are there, clubs know them, if a rule is broken, then apply the correct penalty fair enough, what you don't do Mr Blatter is go to the media telling the french government they'd better not interfere, says it all about the position in the world FIFA think they hold.
The money is ultimately the cause of this that coupled with the complete lack of transparency. If this smaller group went ahead and set up the other smaller associations would be even more screwed. The cash shared between less and more unevenly too. Governing bodies, as shown by the corrupt european ministers and IMF scum taking bribes to push through lax financial legislation even after what just happened with the recession, goes to show all of these cnts are selv serving look to line their own pockets build their own empires and fk all else, it has to be made from all associations contained within but people that are answerable to their own associations and not some all powerful ruling body that is unaccountable because it is their tournament ect. otherwise same mistake all over again.
On a lighter note I was just sent this: As a protest at the corrupt environment surrounding the FIFA vote, England should follow Scotland's example and not play at World Cup finals.
Within FIFA there are to many delegates who owe their existance to the money that FIFA provides - and they are like turkies - they won't vote for Christmas. South American football has stunk of corruption for over 50 years and yet they have the gall to tell our FA not to tell lies! Withdrawing just makes no sense. We have to form a new strategy. Firstly we need to sort out our own mess and completely revise the FA. Then we have to work harder within UEFA to gain support for our views - by being more active in the committees etc. Then, when we have Europe agreeing with us we propose an alternative non-FIFA World Cup plan. Now that would kick the guts out of FIFA and make them PUBLICALLY address the problems that they have manufactured. At the end of the day, it's all about money and the power that it gives. In financial terms, England and Europe is where the money is created. Threaten FIFA with cutting that supply route (remember the sponsors are more likely to back a UEFA grouping supported by USA, Australia etc. etc. than an African/South American grouping - Asia would probably support UEFA). Little is truly likely to change in FIFA over the next 4 years other than a little window dressing. So there's 4 years to evolve another model to challenge what will be seen as a rich but undermined organisation.
it was all akin to starwars IV, yawnfest When you break political rules of behaviour you get shafted even if you ar right. It was all akin to "if you don't I'll tell ma" by going public with corruption claims that they surely must have been aware of before the voting took place in the first place, the FA played their part in a rotten game and cried foul when they got shafted just as I am sure they've had a hand in shafting smaller footballing nations in the past, you can see this in the way big clubs and small clubs get treated never mind foreign clubs lmao. The FA stepped out of line politically even though I totally agree, if you find corruption bring it out, and although he said he wont hold a grudge, blatter'll have his revenge within those 4 years and all this has crapped out the slightly better standing the FA were on after having made FIFA eat humble pie about goal tech after chunkies non goal in the world cup. Lol Politics, we all knew bush was a twat they knew he was a twat the world knew he was a twat yet he was president of he strongest military nation on the planet. It is no wonder a lesser, but educated twat can hold fifa for 16 years, it shows that a politician like Blatter can succeed because FIFA internally is structured so, politically not logistically. To make a point, not the best man for the job, yes man for the job and how much money was wasted on that voting ceremony by FIFA and all the other associations flying around the world?
Couldn't agreemore Somerset I still riles that it was accepted England's bid was superior but it didn't have any bearing on the result. The decision is supposed to be based on the bid without bias and that was clearly not the case as we would have won it comfortably. Simply put, we wasted millions on something that was never going to succeed no matter how good it was. 2018 ans 2022 decisions were simply not based on bids as they should have been. Everytime I listen to Blatter it makes my blood boil. He must surely realise by now that we all know he nothing but a dictator in a closed shop i simply cannot understand that in the FIFA and UEFA presidential elections, both Blatter and Platini went unopposed. It stinks
As far as Blatter is concerned, the FA abstention was a mere stalking horse. The real problem for him will come after the Ethics Committee hearings. FIFA cannot afford to return a 'no charge to answer' finding and therefore Blatter then stands accused of allowing it to happen during his watch (even if he was not directly implicated). As others have said its a political game.
Where's Monty Brewster when you need him? Vote "None of the Above" Some twitter comments: pkelso Result: 203 ballots cast, Blatter 186 changeFIFA LOW POINT.
