Okay off topic, but I thought i'd ask in case you are one lol Got a Mazda 6 Diesel on a 57 plate 106k, its blowing white smoke out of the exhaust, which probably indicates a coolant leak into the head, so it could be a head gasket on its way out, or a cracked head etc. But there is no coolant in the oil, or oil the other way. So do you know anyone who could take a look for me? Thanks
I have always found Sunnyside autos in Gorseinon good. I have known the owner Ralph, for years and they are always honest and show any parts replaced.
Yeah actually I knew him a little bit in a former profession, maybe i'll pop along to see him - thanks
Is he? didn't know that, the problem of course he lives bloody miles away though, but I suppose could ask him for some advice on that
Is the car losing coolant? Was thinking of buying a Mazda 6 a few years back but was put off after reading horror stories about it's 'DPF' (diesel particulate filter) White smoke would indicate burning oil. Maybe the DPF or turbo oil seals at a guess, but i'm no expert.
I had the DPF oxygen sensor changed when I bought the car by the garage. They are good cars, but obviously concerned with this. There is a burning smell from the exhaust which could mean oil , but there doesn't appear to be any loss of that. The coolant was a little low but its been topped up and can't see any loss now, as I said there doesn't appear to be coolant in the oil or any oil in the coolant tank.
I use a guy who's very reasonable & more importantly knows his job , he's in Swansea pm me if you want his details
I remember there were concerns with this engine regarding diesel seeping into the engine oil, mixing with the oil and increasing it's level to a degree where it would find it's way into the cylinders. Is your engine oil above normal level?
I have a life time motor Engineer, who I would recommend! I have never had to take a job back to him because the problem was not solved, and he's maintained my vehicles for over 25 years, including diesel too, if you want his number Jager, your welcome!.................... PS: Mazda 6 forums are full of stories like this. One guy is going to court after getting a £9K bill from his dealer!.... I have a MX5 MkII, which is getting on a bit now, but it has never let me down, it has never failed an MOT in 10 years, and it has never leaked oil, but before I bought my wife a Zafira 2.0 DTi SRi, back two years ago, I was going to buy a Mazda MPV Diesel until I did some research, shame Mazda have not got this right!...............
Cheers guys will give him a ring tomorrow bony . Phil yeah I know what you mean about Mazda's I bought mine as a high miler thinking a diesel would be great, and to be fair in 2 years haven't had a problem. If bony's mate can't help I'll come back to you for your friends number. Cheers
Jager, have someone Rev your car and hold your hand near the exhaust. Smell your hand, if it's a sweet smell your coolant is getting into the combustion area, if it smells of burning oil. ..... we'll, it's burning oil. Let me know and I'll try and advise.
Jager- I can tell you the exact problem..but you've been giving me so much stick these last few days ive decided not to help you ,you bugger !! Only Joking mate, im not a mechanic and don't know of an honest one but the internet always has a forum for this kind of stuff, also y-tube has some intresting stuff if you type into its search engine
