After the drumming Barcelona gave us, it is obvious we need to add some players as you always do. But there might be a bit more transfer action this summer than usual due to some of our veterans leaving, in Neville and Van der Sar, and Scholes' future still up in the air. But we need to be smart about spending our money wisely and i'm sure Fergie will make the correct personnel decisions as he usually does.

Here's what I envisage us doing this summer in the transfer window:

    OUT:

Dimitar Berbatov - I absolutely hate the fact that there is a strong possibility of Berba leaving this summer. I didn't think it would happen last week but after he was totally left out of the Champions league squad, he could certainly be on his way out of Old Trafford. He will be extremely tough to replace whether you like it or not, with his goals last season being a pivotal reason we were able to win our 19th title. I also have a connection with him seeing as I am half Bulgarian so it will be sad to see if he leaves United.

Darren Gibson - A truly atrocious player in my opinion, he would be perfect for a bottom half team. He has not, and never will be United quality.

Wes Brown - Brown will surely be off in the summer with youngsters like Smalling and Evans eclipsing him. He has been a great servant to the club.

Tomasz Kusczak - Never really made a huge impact and when he played he was prone to some errors. Lindergaard will replace him as our back-up goalkeeper.

Mame Biram Diouf - He doesn't look United quality.

Federico Macheda (LOAN) - Macheda might be off to Italy as it looks unlikely he will be able to break in to our team, i'm sure he will gain more experience on loan as it is too much of a risk to sell him.

Gabriel Obertain (LOAN) - Lets get Obertan out on loan and see if he can impress enough to warrent playing time at Old Trafford.

    Van Der Sar - RETIRED

    IN:

David De Gea from Athletico Madrid £17MILL - Van Der Sar's replacement, I have watched De Gea several times on the tele and he has impressed me a lot at his young age. He will have to be mentally strong in his first season as we have seen many keepers fail at United due to stress.

Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan £25-30MILL - Every time I watch Sneijder I am impressed. He is one of the most dynamic centre midfield players in the game and would be able to give us as close to a replacement as we are going to get for Scholes. I know no one could ever replace Scholes, but Sneijder will really help to dismiss the common thought that our midfield is currently the weak part of the team.

Raphaël Varane from Lens £3.5MILL - A young centre back who has impressed for Lens at only 18 years of age. He will look to be the long term replacement, along with Smalling, for Vidic and Ferdinand.

Mario Götze from Borussia Dortmund £10MILL - I think this kid is one of the best talents around. He was fantastic playing as attacking midfielder for Dortmund in their title winning season. He is very creative and posted 8 goals and 15 assists in a German league which, in my opinion, has the toughest defences in Europe after the English Premier League.

What do you think will happen this summer?

I am by no means a fan of spending big in the transfer window, but I think that many will agree that we need to add a few more pieces to make our team even more successfull.

If you sell Berbatov you will need another striker

Don't know if anyone will agree with me but I think Carrick is a lot more talented than Parker

True but I doubt he would work in your 442 formation.

I suggest our formation needs some work, I think a 4-1-2-1-2 system might work.

    ---------------------De Gea-----------------------

    --Fabio-------Ferdinand-----Vidic--------------Evra

    ---------------------Fletcher----------------------

    -Valencia-------------------------------------Nani-

    ---------------------Sneijder----------------------

    ---------------Rooney-----------------------------

    -----------------------Chicharito--------------------

It would be pointless signing Sneijder as he is best in the same position as Rooney so which one would you leave out?

Obviously a Gk is needed and I think it will be De Gea.
A CM is also needed and everyone has different ideas on this, for me De Rossi is the pick as I believe a leader is what we need.
A LW is also needed who must be left footed. Here is where the problem as there are few good one out there

Why is a LW needed? Nani and Giggs are good enough for me.

Giggs has one more season in him at most and Nani is largely ineffective on the left and he isn't left footed. We need someone like Giggs who is a natural left footed left winger.

i would say we actually need at least 2 CMs this summer, urgently.
    scholes-retired
    hargreaves-out
    giggs-1 season left
    gibson-cack
    carrick-below utd standard
    anderson-inconsistant
    fletcher-our best CM.

if i were in charge ide sell diouf, macheda, carrick, gibson, brown, kuszczak and obertan, bring through cleverly and welbeck (and maybe pogba) and sign sneijder and schweinsteiger (or landon donovan/modric/parker in descending order of effectiveness.

though fergie is forcing berbatov out clearly,so thats another 15 mill recouped,so he'll probably keep most of the players i think we should sell.

It is a good job that you are not in charge as that many changes in one transfer window would de-stabilise the squad and chances are there would be no silverware next season.

so what youre telling me is getting rid of one 1st team player and 6 players who either never start or start unimportant games or dead rubbers is too much change for the squad?

oh dear.we must be in trouble already then, considering weve lost/are losing scholes, berbatov, hargreaves, van der sar and neville since january.

    think before you type mate.

Good idea. Except Sneijder and Schweinsteiger don't want to leave their current clubs, Donovan is primarily a winger, and Parker is like an older, poorer version of Fletcher. Back to Football Manager with you <ok>

well if youre happy with our current central midfield then good luck to you.i prefer man utd to try to be the best, but obviously im wrong,we should content with owen as our third choice striker and gibson as our 5th choice central midfielder.obertan has shown hes going backwards but no need to sell him.macheda and diouf couldnt hit a barn door but its alright theyre still young.ish. browns uses are obviously endless:eek:wn goals,testimonials...er...more testimonials.kuszczak is taibi for the new generation, but he might come in handy as 3rd/4th choice.gibson...well,hes still young, right? right? and carrick, well yeah he cant do it against any good team, keeps knocking us out of cups season after season, but hes has some...qualities.

yeah theyre all definitely earning their keep.

We need to also concentrate on bringing in a lot more young talent. The likes of Ronaldo, Messi, Pato and Rooney have all been purchased from other clubs when they were young. Look at Hernandez now, what a buy he was. Fergie will put his usual emphasis on signing young talent aswell as it is the most realistic way you are going to get the next superstar.

Carrick is a first team player who is underrated by the fans, Gibson has played quite a lot of games and is not as bad as people make out. Brown is also a good player to have in an emergency. I would only sell PIG and loan out the rest.

Neville has been gone since January so that will not be a problem next season. The team have largely been doing without Hargreaves for a few years so again that won't be a problem.

So saying that replacements will only be needed for VDS, Scholes and possibly Berbatov plus a long term replacement for Giggs.

well for one thing, only selling PIG and berbatov gives us about 20million,maybe less.de gea will cost almost 20million on his own,and we really cant afford to buying untested youngsters for our central midfield,so where is the money coming from for the replacements for scholes, berbatov and giggs?we do need to sell to buy if we're getting rid of berbatov for money, which we seem to be doing.

we definitely still need to replace hargreaves too, unless youre suggesting gibson was his replacement?

I'm not saying we shouldn't sell anyone, but your approach of "sell all our squad players and buy players that aren't available" is just stupid. I'd rather us try to bring in Costa, Hazard or Gotze, accept that they'll take some time to settle in, and build a great team for the future. After all, Sneijder could end up as the next Veron if we just buy him without thinking of how he'll fit with the players we already have.

And I'm still unsure where your psychic link to SAF that makes it clear he is desparate to sell Berbatov has come from...
