Maloney is about 30 now mate, coming to the end of the best years of his career. McManaman is still a young buck who has his best years ahead of him and is already a fantastic player now.
Exactly ! Spot on Parker, the lad is a right winger and aright winger alone at that ! (Was used a couple of times on the left but struggled by all accounts). I cannot see him coming as it would cast doubts on AJ who was starting to find form towards the end of last season. Nope, sorry but 7 million for a one trick pony is too rich for me
Sunderland are poised to launch a £7m bid for Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman, according to a report. The England Under-21 international impressed for Wigan towards the end of last season despite their relegation to the Championship. Sunderland head coach Paolo Di Canio is set to make an offer for the 22-year-old to beat his former manager Roberto Martinez, now at Everton to his signature, reports The People. McManaman made 30 appearances for Wigan last season, scoring 6 goals. However Coyle will sell at the right price and if he can find a suitable replacement in some frantic summer dealing at the DW Stadium.
I've got to say that I was highly impressed with him at the back end of last season, but I would be surprised if he didn't end up as an Everton player due to the connections...
We did not sign Johnson a few years ago due to a high price and then we ended up paying more for him from Man City later. McManaman looks the real deal to me and played on the left a lot for Wigan last year. I say sign him up. For a 21 yo English player with EPL experience 7m is spot on the money.
They look like losing Kone so might be open to taking Danny Graham as a makeweight on any deals. Personally if I could have anyone from Wigan it would be James McCarthy. He'll be playing champions league in a few years and if we got him now I reckon we'd double our money in two seasons
I think he's already earmarked for the step up mate, Arsenal heavily linked, I do think he may end up there. Cracking player, totally agree.
Ironic isnt it 1: He started playing after March | Dont wigan as a whole do that anyway year in year out. 2: Mclean was like a breath of fresh air when he came here, so much so MON was a genius for playing him and Bruce was a ****er for not, and he only started playing crap when the rest of the team did at the back end of last year. For me its like buying an unkown from 1 good tournament, he isnt an unknown anymore and gets found out more often than not. Not for me, let Everton have him.
There will be other clubs further up the Premier League pecking order than we are interested in signing this fella..............doomed to fail imho.
