It all started going downhill with the thatchers death thread when not-quite-evolved chimps like Craig started posting their politically motivated hateful bile. It then took another giant step in that direction with the woolwich thread, where sadly people were being intentionally racist (probably due to shock and high emotion directly after such an event) but the supposed 'do gooder' brigade of nazis forced their beliefs down everyone's throats.

Since then politically motivated threads and posts are the majority make up of this board. What were left with us a bunch of nazis trying to force everyone into their own little way of thinking and anything they don't agree with should be abolished. There's no live and let live anymore, just a bunch of knuckle dragging twats, with so little to do with their lives they trawl this board looking for stuff to be purposely offended by.

I've noticed traffic on this board has dropped significantly since all this ****e has started, and I'm seriously thinking of ****ing it off for good now. I'm fed up of opening a thread to see "that's wrong, you should be thinking this". It says it all about the way this board is going, that until recently I had no idea what left wing/right wing was, which papers supported which side, what a liberal is, or really anything about politics what so ever. There's been so much political ****e I could probably A* a degree in politics now.

So I plea to those derailing every thread to step back and live and let live, not everyone will agree with you not everyone will share your views. It suited some of you just fine to be offensive, hateful, evil little ****s when thatcher died and you spouted your disgusting ****, but as soon as you don't like it you throw your dummy out.

ive never had a problem with any thread whether i agree with it or not ,

where i have a bit of an issue when reading is the debate
for the most part most ppl dont debate they name call
and thats the frustrating thing for me .

for the most recently closed thread there was no debate onto the reason for such jokes
and why they exist , are tolerated hated and enjoyed .
Just random abuse & threats dished out everywhere

I know you are also covering other threads but , the footballer kid thread was a very good debate
and for the most part was void of name calling .

Bit of an odd juxtaposition; placing the anti-Thatcher stuff alongside some of the jokes on the locked thread.

Of course it depends upon viewpoint, but I saw Thatcher as a remorseless destroyer of communities/lives. For me Thatcher promoted the individualism that slights our society so much today. For me Thatcher removed the backbone of standing up together to be counted. Not saying that posting hateful messages about Thatcher was a correct thing to do but I would guess that some people saw posting anti-Thatcher stuff as a form of release (bearing in mind the above).

Whereas, some of the jokes on that thread were concerning child rape, racism had no such release or historical foundation.

Personally, I despised Thatcher but I didn`t gloat or revel in the woman’s death. Not my style. Equally, it’s not my style to post jokes about child rape, racial stereotypes or terminal illnesses.

I'm not looking for a dramatic leaving. I'm trying to call for some middle ground and people to just get on with it like we did before. The board is firmly split into sections of posters now who will agree with their own parts and disagree with the other, and is just becoming a battleground between the same few posters.

A year ago last nights joke thread would have passed without incident. I know this for a fact as there have been 2/3 other joke threads in the past with exactly the same jokes inside and no one moaning about it. Now people just go off on a crusade about what they think is right or wrong and no ones willing to back down since politics was allowed to start creeping on to the board.

Even a thread about whether a footballer player should be allowed to join us turned into a left wing/right wing battleground. It's frankly ridiculous. By all means argue whether a rapist should play for us or not but there's no need to start accusing people of being soft liberals or that certain people shouldn't rule the country or whatever.

We just need some restraint from everyone now and hold back from the political nature. You may not socialise with people with different views in person but this is a message board and will have people from all different views. Everyone needs to accept that and allow each other to have their own views without airing them on here.

It would be much better if this was your dramatic leaving.

Eh? I didn`t realise I’d ranted about MT on here before (maybe I have, can’t remember).

Anyway, apologies to all the apoliticals, I just meant to say that I thought it was a strange to compare jokes about child rape to jokes about a despised (by many) former leader of the country.

Bit of a disappointment for me really, my visits to the board have dropped by about 90% since I started uni - as soon as I come back and have a bit of free time, it's all petty arguments between moronic keyboard warriors asking for names and addresses.

Still, I'm sure it'll get back to normal once the season starts again (and I'm back at uni <doh>)

Edit - In the time that it took me to post this, two posters managed to have a quick pop at the OP. That speaks volumes. Show a bit of ****ing restraint and stop being so damn provocative.

Disagree.

Rejoicing when someone dies is wrong.

It's not the same type of wrong as child rape, but it's still wrong.

Just as ridiculing Nadine Fudge's face is wrong.

I wasn't comparing, I was making the point that politics creeped in at that point. At that the ones who are now on the offensive about what they deem right or wrong were ironically the ones who started it by being abusive and distasteful about thatcher. It was an RIP thread, what was the need to go on and start preaching hatred?

That may have offended people, but they didn't care then, it suited them. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Anyway back on topic and anything politically natured should be strictly moderated now until we can resume to normal order. Anything that has a hint of degenerating into left this right that, should deleted by the mods faster than the next man can reply. I'm sure we will all be in agreement.

Lets get back to football and the other light hearted off topic debates that we can all enjoy without conflictin our views and beliefs.

Fair enough and as I stated, I don’t endorse either – not my style - I find all of it classless.

But, some people who lived through it despised MT to the pit of their stomach, so I can comprehend why they might want to celebrate her death.

Even when people do discuss football on here, there's a group of people that stick together no matter about their opinions and anyone with a different opinion is trolled constantly.

But why go public about it when you know others may have a different view of her, or be offended regardless as rejoicing at death is classless per se?

It's guaranteed to antagonise and start a political slanging match.

It's Nelson Mandela's death soon. Batten down the hatches........

"But why go public about it when you know others may have a different view of her, or be offended regardless as rejoicing at death is classless per se?"

Why do people go public about anything? Why am I writing this? I could write all of this in a book that would be seen by nobody.

"It's Nelson Mandela's death soon. Batten down the hatches."

Wrong comparison.

Thatcher ‘touched’ thousands/millions in this country.

Mandela ‘touched’ the few Brits who lived in SA, traded with SA etc. and fought essentially to reclaim his own country for the majority.
