I love them, one of the best rap/hip hop artists by a mile for me along with Run DMC. Fight The Power is one of my fave ever songs. Way better than any rap/hip hop released in the 20-25 years after their peak in the late 80s.
I think it's all Chuck D. Flavor Flav might be there, but I haven't noticed him. Primal Scream back on now. I don't mind them, but only the stuff from Screamadelica appeals to me to be fair.
To be fair Chuck D was Public Enemy, Flavor Flav was a gimic with that clock on the chain round his neck. Never been a fan of Primal Scream apart from Rocks, Loaded & Movin on Up. So pretty much same as you. Always thought there was better 90s groups than them.
That speech was good though, where he said he hates all this crap with holograms of Tupac & Ol' Dirty Bastard when they have all the modern rappers. He's got the crowd eating out his hand.
I thought that was ****ing ****. It's wrong for him to sing them. Yes he wrote the music so just play them as an instrumental and let the crowd sing. Or just don't play them - why are people so obsessed with nostalgia? It's like the Stone Roses thing, as a young adult they were my favourite band ever but they never should've reformed. It went against everything they ever stood for as a band and ruined all my memories of them. I honestly don't know how any fan could even contemplate watching this series of reformation gigs. How can you hear him sing "the past was yours the future is mine, you're all out of time" and not have a clanging moment of realisation that it's all so very wrong?
Elvis Costello was ****ing outstanding...tramp the dirt down yeah !!!! I wish he'd done Alison though...
The Roses will become as embarrassing as the Stones, at least Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, John Lennon, Ian Curtis and Kurt Cobain had the Rock and Roll decency to ****ing die young!
When they split up and say "we'll never get back together" is a good starting point. I'm not the biggest Beatles fan but I'd say they pretty much got the lifespan completely right. End it before you get **** and embarrassing.
I'm personally happy the Stone Roses reformed, because I was born after they had virtually imploded, and I finally got the chance to see them at Heaton Park last year. It was fantastic.
So is it wrong for them to join new bands or side projects after said split, as long as they don't rehash the old stuff? Like the Joy Division members forming New Order etc.
If that is wrong, Liam Gallagher is ****ed. His Beady Eye stuff is crap. He HAS to fall back on his Oasis days. At least Noel's solo work is top notch.
