Club confirms departure of senior quintet ... QUINTET Radek Cerny, Tal Ben Haim, Jay Bothroyd, Rob Hulse and DJ Campbell will officially leave the club when their contracts expire today. http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/300613-player-update-881410.aspx#Tb1KFJyB5pMwcdal.99 Not earth shattering news, but officially confirmed.
Now lads, good luck to Cerny. Played a blinder more than once. Ben Haim did ok in difficult circumstances, DJ was never given a proper chance IMO but Betty and Hulse under performed badly, especially the latter. Good luck to all nevertheless.
Thanks Cerny, you were the only one who I am sorry to see go, DJ never got a chance so its hard to be sorry to see a player go when you never saw him play.
Sadly, Ãber, I cannot remember which just about sums up the whole sorry saga of us employing that man. Even more sadly, the only goal of his I can recall was frm a few years back when he poached the winner for Blades against us! Enough said. Move on!
I have nothing against Hulse. He was a bizarre signing given Warnock's preference for one up front. He did his best. Bothroyd I have no time for. Ben Haim was worth a year imo and Cerny did well for us. However, letting Campbell go will prove to be a piss poor decision.
DJ will probably end up banging in the goals for one of our rivals, knowing our luck, likely against us.
I thought Bothroyd might have done a job for us in the Championship - it's certainly his level. We're definitely going to need a couple of strikers in as Cisse has left too. Does anyone know if Remy is supposed to be staying; have we received any bids for him?
No one is stupid enough to bid for him unless its clear he wont be charged. At the moment the deadline for that is after the transfer window closes.
He will get 15-20 goals next season. We probably wont have anyone in double figures unless Remy stays.
Any news on Luke Young? Prime contract cancellation candidate. Which of Warnock's premiership signings have delivered? DJ, Boothroyd, Gabbidon, Dyer I can forgive, he had no budget when he got them, although £1.2m for DJ looks pretty poor value. Barton, Young, Ferdinand, SWP, Traore........only the last has, very occassionally, looked ok.
Has another year left I think. Really bad decision to let Campbell go imo. He will score at least 10-15 next season in the NPC. And the fact that he is a QPR fan also means he will care for the shirt - which is exactly what everyone at the club is banging on about. Would have also kept Bothroyd. Sometimes unfairly given stick, although sometimes deservedly. But he played well in a few matches towards the end of the season, but for some reason got dropped. After Southampton away springs to mind. Would have done well next season imo. Also has links to the club so again would have cared for the shirt.
My only hope is that Harry has some one better than either of those two lined up ie Remy or replacement. Otherwise you are dead right.
Let's save that judgment until August. If we start the season with Austin, Gale or Hooper most will have forgotten about Campbell. Whatever happens, I doubt that he is the messiah.
I agree. I don't think DJ is all that either. However, he is a Ranger, he IS a goal scorer and I reckon he will score 10-15 goals in the second tier season. Let's hope you're right and we get someone in who can do the same or hold on to Remy.
