They can qualify up front all they like... But if they can't win then it's pointless. Seems to be playing in to RBR's hands more than anything. It feels like the championship is already decided.
What a stunning and beautifully pitched lap by Lewis in that Mercedes earlier today. I've always thought that while not as consistent as the exceptional high levels of performance shown by the likes of Vettel and Alonso, Lewis has that extra something special in his locker which I don't think the other two drivers do. No driver can better Lewis when he is on his maximum in my honest opinion. It was a sublime lap from him today.
Seems like the actual problem may have been his weight not the car. If thats the case then I don't feel nearly as bad for him. Still sucks for him, but its his own fault.
Not checked the rest of the comments in this thread yet but your comment, McFerrari, seems very apt. Many people seem to appreciate Hamilton's ultimate pace; but few seem to be prepared to acknowledge it in the way that you have. I should add that I do my best to be objective and that I do not have any particular driver preference; but what you've said speaks volumes in terms of pure driver ability – especially since Hamilton is not yet settled into his new environment. I should add that despite accepting the possibility that Hamilton may be your personal hope, it's nice to think that politics and preference may not have clouded your thoughts so much as sometimes seems the case for others who perhaps are too willing to buy into what I see as a slight distortion. (To those who may disagree: yes, this is a personal perspective. If you disagree, I'm sure your disagreement is at least as valid. I also stress that I am not trying to create friction; it is just a moment of pure, honest, personal perspective.) I was going to say more but have edited this comment for fear of creating friction. To put it bluntly: I've appreciated what you've said, McF, and I think you're very much 'on the money'…
I missed Michelin when they were gone... I miss the days when the teams were too busy complaining which team had the tyre advantage from one track to the next. Although from a certain point of view* Michelin provided unsafe tyres as well. *Ferrari's
lol. Sometimes you gotta say what you see, it was an awesome lap by Lewis for sure, and I think McFerrari's post is about right.
