Bit rich to ask for Borini to be given a chance when Carroll wasn't even given a training session by Rodgers then replaced by a player who contributed even less. I haven't written him off but he needs to improve and quickly. We should be aiming to be a top level football club not a ****ing creche. So far he's looked Championship standard at best. Not good enough at all.

 

I don't see how you can say he's contributed 'even less' and needs to 'improve and quicky' or that he's 'championship standard at best' when he's had barely **** all opportunities in a row. He's had no time to build up regular game time and show what he can do.

Not good enough at all? He had his best run of games at the end of the season and showed by far his best form. No coincidence. I want to see what he can contribute when he's not hampered with injuries. Give the lad a chance like BR will do.

 

It's no coincidence his "best run" (2 half decent showings) came against mid-table teams with nothing to play for. I'm not sure why he doesn't need to improve and do it quickly?? Aren't we supposed to be aiming to improve last seasons rather lame league position?

I'm also not sure what injury prevents a player being able to control a ball other than one that would prevent them playing in the first place. No doubt Rodgers will give him chances (rightly so) but he needs to prove he's up to the job. So far he's looked a million miles away so yes, I'd say he definitely needs to up his game.

 

Talking of controlling the ball. Andy Carroll was embarrassing to watch sometimes with his first touch. Often followed by "We paid £35 ****ing million for this ****!!??".

Ciro Immobile, the Italian lad from Juve, has clearly stolen Andy Carroll naming rights.

 

Why is spending £46 million on two donkeys better than £35 million on one donkey? That's thoroughbred money.

25mill is the report, right? That's an awful lot of money to spend...think we can safely assume that Suarez is 100% on his way now, unfortunately. Really hope he can adapt to the league - could be a fantastic signing IF he can

 

He surely isnt replacing Suarez. When Suarez goes, Id expect a couple big signings.

 

I would think Rodgers is resigned to losing Suarez but this deal was said to be going ahead regardless of the Suarez situation. Maybe one or two others going ( shelvey/ spearing/ downing/ Assaidi ?) to partly fund this deal.
Then if Suarez goes would expect that money to be reinvested. Still like to see us signing a C B though

 

Well we're about even so far on net spend this summer; Carroll's sale has funded Aspas and Alberto + Toure's signing on fee.

25mill isn't pocket change for our owners, so it has to come from somewhere...

 

£9 mill for Ming as well

 

I think we can assume Reina will be off after the Confed cup tbh, don't see why we'd spend 9mill for a backup/competing keeper when other positions need strengthening more. That's about an even spend/sale

 

Strange one the reina situation but like you I think he must surely go. Or maybe he's agreed one more season so Ming can settle in with the promise he can go next season?

 

That was my thought. Think Valdes staying for at least one more year (or so it looks) has kind of cocked up Reina's plans, so he could stay until the Barca No.1 shirt is free (since Barca are the only club he wants to go to)

My view on Ming is that he isn't quite the top goalkeeper yet. Be hard pushed to just throw him at the deep end with the hope of top 4 when he's just come off a relegation survival. A year working with Reina could do him the world of good.

 

Maybe Barcelona will want Reina now to settle for a year before Valdes leaves and they would be in a better bargaining position than when Valdes has left and they will appear more desperate
