We obviously want to sign their targets so that we can drop down the table a few places.
    Oh, wait...

I'm sure Levy waits until the 31st August to sign players so he doesn't have to pay them during the summer. Lets face it, 12 weeks at £100 k a week = £1.2 M

Arsenal fans think that we steal their targets too. It's no surprise when we're after the same players because we've got similar ambitions and chances are you'll find out about your club being linked to them first because you pay more attention to your own side's news. And that's without even talking about lazy journalists linking an extra club or two using the same logic of picking teams with similar ambitions.

It's funny reading the ire it causes amongst some Arsenal and Liverpool fans though.

Lol! I don't think it's true most of the time mate, it's just the media who like to create this rivalry over signings.

Edit- just seen YV's post! Sorry to repeat what he said.

SOS- agree over the barca guy. Apparently there is no option to buy either. Don't like the idea of that personally.
We need players who want to play for us. This is my only concern I've villa. - he's at barca and has no reason to "want" to play for us, so I wonder of he's the right option despite his talent. Don't get me wrong, I would t say no, but we don't want players earning their pension.

If that were the case we would have paid £35.5 M for donkey carroll.

I've come to the conclusion that Shakhtar don't like their new stadium and want to build another one. They got £30m each for William and Ferdinandinho, and now they want £20m for Mkimkardashian.

To be fair, although I had a dig. It is at least reassuring that one of your rivals is after someone ou are interested in but know little about.

Cuts down the risk of them being an expensive flop.

At the same time im sure alot of it is the media just wanting hits.

£25 million is alot of money for someone I know next to nothing about. I hope hes good. (If we get him)

I read comolli was still advising levy while DoF at Pool. Couldn't believe it but would explain the joint transfer targets over the last few years. Now though there should be less

Comolli phoned Levy to inform him that he was looking to bring Stewart Downing to Anfield, at which point our multi-window interest in him stopped immediately.

Blackpool say they have accepted an £8m bid from Cardiff for Thomas Ince.

Ince was a player we are/were genuinely interested in. I don" t know how much we were prepared to pay, but I do know we were concerned when our serious interest in the player became public knowledge as we felt his price would be inflated as a consequence.

I read that on another site a few months ago. He may well have a word in Levy's ear about certain players, but the one who most certainly did on a regular basis, was David Pleat, who I have mentioned on here before. Pleat was employed by Levy on a " as and when" consultancy arrangement for about two-thirds of last season. It is accepted it was Pleat through his contacts, who was instrumental in accelerating the arrival of Lewis Holtby to the club.

Not sure how accurate this is, but there are reports that we've returned to Croatia and signed two of their brightest young players.
Alen Halilovic, an attacking midfielder who's being talked up massively as a future world beater, and Tin Jedvaj, a promising centre-half.
Both are 17 and the combined cost is a pretty substantial €20m. That's about £17m.

Halilovic will be allowed to stay at Dinamo Zagreb until next summer and Jedvaj will stay there until January.
Here's a clip of the former:

    Reports from where?

I very, very, very highly doubt we'd spend £17m on these 2 at this point in time.

All over the place, for some reason. We've linked with them both recently and it seems like we've jumped in to get them before anyone else.
One of the Croatian papers (Sportske Novosti, if that means anything to anyone) appears to be the source for the current reports.
There are quotes from Dinamo's President to go with it, though:
Dinamo president Mirko Barisic, confirmed the departure of Tim JEDVAJ sale and Alen Halilovic in English Spurs. " We decided to transfer JEDVAJ and Halilovic. they remain with us, Jedvaj six months, Halilovic another year , "said Barisic. Jedvaj is in 1995. year while until Halilovic year younger. Halilovic in the past few years is on the radar of the big clubs, and Jedvaj came to the fore last season.
    Translation via Google.

€20m might be their eventual, overall, with add-ons price, but there were a lot of big clubs being linked with them, including our lovely mates down the road and Roma, so Baldini could be a factor.
Halilovic has broken a variety of "youngests" though, so it might just be €20m flat. He's the youngest ever to play and score in the top flight, for example, and he's already got a cap for the national side.

Halilovic was linked a while back, whilst Jedvaj has appeared on the radar pretty recently.

Halilovic has the obvious "new Modric" tag (see also: Milan Badelj, Mateo Kovacic), but also manages the remarkable task of being two inches shorter than the Real bench warmer. Heck, even the hairstyle is similar...

Meanwhile, Jedvaj seems to look like an early 70s Chelsea midfielder...

£17m for the pair sounds like a decent spread bet, especially if we Levy it down to £10m for the pair up front, with the rest as add-ons.
