The reality is that bates put a clause in the buy out that meant he was kept on as president. He wants to be recognised for what good he's done to this club, as delusional as he is in thinking wasting all our money on corporate facilities and getting us into massive amounts of debt that results in selling players in order to pay it off is doing good for the club. All he's ever wanted is recognition, not money. Clear indicator of narcissism, clearly unwell, clearly needs to be put out of his misery as he'll never make a difference in this world, or at least not a good one. Spent all his life with the "they'll see I was right all along" mentality, instead of doing things differently and recognising that he's the one at fault. They say the mark of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome each time. I think you'll find that his talk of the "silent majority" who appreciate what he's done is all hot air and he knows that the "vocal minority" actually wouldn't exist if they really were a minority, as you see, it would take one hell of a coincidence for all the people against him to just happen to be the type of people who speak up about it. The way you can make him get the message is just to go on not appreciating him. The ones who keep this farce going are those misinformed who still believe he saved our club and he's brought financial stability, who continue to let him know they think he's done a good job. It keeps his delusion alive that he may have changed something in this world for the better. Sad, self centred old man with no place in society, and far too much power than he should ever be allowed.
