Not implying we are Barcelona ,Spain or whoever, just stateing there are different ways to play
BR being the manager is responsible for this, maybe he does not wish to choose to play with an out and out striker.
He doesn't want to play with a traditional N09 and that is why Carrol has gone, maybe buying all these players that can play anywhere across a front three, is what he is planning, and then have them constantly interchanging during the game, then a few backing up from midfield.
It is his job to bring success, so he will try his methods.
People keep trying to second guess who will be the starting 11, but this is pointless unless you know the style/sytem the team is going to play

So before Sturridge arrived...who did we have in this mould.....no-one and the player that was supposed to come which left us short upfront was Dempsey,so he didn't actually have this type of player in mind for the start of last season either.

  2. Dempsey can play all four front roles in a 4231. We also had Suarez and Borini before Sturridge arrived.

Reports of a deal done for Miky at 25.6 M

Carragher in his role as pundit seems to think the deal will be done along 3-4 other signings on top of the ones already done.

Dunno what sources this came from. Twitterverse.

That quids or Euros? <yikes> That's a massive chunk of budget either way.

    More Spanish interest?

What i am saying that at the start of last season we had no Sturridge type player and wasn't even looking for one
We now have Sturridge plus people wanting a back up.
Maybe Sturridge is not really the out and out striker either, he can play across the front three, so maybe that is why BR bought him

It is my view he just wants all strikers that can play anywhere rather than a main central striker

In this way you don't have a 25 goals per season player and then a couple that chip in with 5-10 , maybe its better to have a few that can manage 10-15
That way if a player is out for a while you dont lose the threat as much as if your 25 goal man is missing

Indeed it isn't, daily fail (ik <doh>) have reported that Spurs are interested in him too, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they were though.

think Spurs would only go for him if Bale left, they are at present in more need of a striker than us,rumours of Villa, and then Benteke/A.N.Other so would they have the cash for Paulinho,Villa,Benteke/A.N.Other and Mickie Ryan without the sale of Bale

He has stated in the past that that is where he wants to be, up top down the middle. The target man. Which is a good thing for us. <ok>

Let's just hope we actually play him there.

Looks like Spurs are in talks with Mikas advisors according to a few places this morning, Would think they need to spend in other areas first

@M_Sweeting: Eastern european journalist, @yarolfc, has stated that Liverpool will sign Mkhitaryan with 72 hours. same source broke Fernandinho to City.

so.... middle of next week. well we'll see

for luis... the fact we were not able to break sides down or worse not able to beat anyone in the top half is pretty huge evidence in my mind why we needed someone who could hold it up. especially when you have gerrard (if he would stand bloody there and not wander off up the field) and ping passes from god himself onto the guys toe form 50 yards.

Without sturridge everyone is coming short, not going forward. result = nobody i nthe box and no point crossing, no point trying to fast break, no point in anything but hoping sides who sit deep make a mistake. We badly need the extra option cos sturrdige with respect is injury prone it seems from his history and what we have seen.

If suarez goes we need a striker in

Best part of Borini's game is probably his running off the shoulder, in behind.

Not holding the ball up but he is an outball.

    Doesn't have Sturridge's quality however.

Borini's off the ball movement is great. He is good at open space with it for players like Suarez and Sturridge to exploit. Its a subtle job but he does it well.

I've heard that said about Borini before and it's true that his movement is good but that's nowhere near enough to be a top level player. £11 million is a ridiculous amount for a player who's only attribute so far has been a few good runs. You could pick a dozen championship strikers who have decent movement and they'd cost a quarter of the price. He simply has to deliver more next season.

Imagine if we gave him a chance instead of the few half chances inbetween injuries <doh>

He had a short run at the end of the season; scored one, almost scored another and looked sharp in a handful of games. Borini will come good next season. Stop writing players off who've had little time to show what they can do.
