Apparently, about half of it is based on goals scored and staying up, but it's still a massive fee for someone who's only ever played 29 league football matches.

And he only scored six goals in the twenty games since they signed him permanently, which isn't a bad return, but it's not a £6m return.

I think Austn is definitely worth a punt, but he, like many prolific strikers, would be best with a partner; could that be NickP? Two tall guys as a 4-4-2 option in the PL does, when coupled with our 3-5-2 and Sone/Boyd running into space, cause defensive/midfield selection for the opposition a bit more difficult.

We're definitely in for Huddlestone apparently, but Sunderland are also in for him and with them being a more established Premier League side, I can see him going to the Stadium of Light.

Depends if he wants a more established manager?

Good point, but if he has long-term Premier League aspirations and high wages, Sunderland will be the team he chooses because, on first impression, they have much more of a chance at staying up than us.

First impressions can be deceptive, as the Mackems found out with MON. They barely escaped relegation, their manager is unproven, their team is being decimated and the regime will test the patience of many a PL player (if they are prepared to join him). Money has to be found by DeCanio, he ain't having it thrown at him and I would would think his ability to bring in quality loans is less than that of Steve Bruce. My money says we will finish above both Sunderland, Newcastle and at least 3 others.

I did some quick stalking and couldn't find anything about it.
She doesn't seem to be active on twitter if I found the correct profile.

An interesting signing would be Albin Ekdal from Cagliari btw.
He's gonna be a consistent Swedish international player in the future and has a bright time ahead of him.
It's not really a signing we're in the need of atm (Central Mid, attacking mid), but should be on Brucies shortlist ;)
He's like a consistent Tom Cairney (when TC is playing on his absolute top). Brilliant passing player and a good vision of the game, also not afraid of putting in a tackle (TC):emoticon-0176-smoke

I think as it stands, our chances of staying up are better than Sunderlands. He's decimated the squad and has a major rebuild on his hands. I can see a lot of players put off by the way he bollocks players through the media.

Malouda was coming to us, off to West Ham now, Olympiakos also interested. Mancini was in talks with Arsenal but not anymore.

Really until we sign a couple of decent strikers then no i don't think we are. I think Bruce is a better manager and has the character that attracts players.

SSN report that it is actually £3m fee agreed with the Posh. So any extra will be add-ons subject to performance etc.

Yes so it appears. I would suggest its 50/50 actually with Steve Bruce as our manager instead of a powder keg.

It might also be helpful that both Davies is mates and Rosie knows Huddleston as well.

It is interesting that PDiC is releasing many of the SB/MON players and bringing in most from abroad. His actions wont have gone un-noticed by players already here. Huddleston just might fancy a steady and stable ship to the Titanic i would suggest ?

Lives in London so why leave it. We dont him his type imo.

Yes, Would any one really want to play for the crazy Italian? Huddlestone has seen a few good managers and he doesn't need the money! And we are a lot closer to London then Sunderland!

Based on the signings we've made, plus the bids we've pitched for specific strikers - I don't doubt we'll land the standard of striker required to compete in this league. Bruce is a magician - in Bruce we trust. I can see us landing a minimum of 3 strikers. Bruce repeatedly indicated lack of goals was a concern last season.
