Yes, but £30m for City is peanuts. £17m for Spurs or Arsenal is a lot of money.

Is Spurs keep Bale, get Paulinho and sign a striker and CB, then they'll be a serious threat next year.

Glenn Hoddle thinks we should "target Euro 2016 rather than the World Cup in Brazil".

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23104664

The guy is an absolute moron.

You play your best team, you play to win, you don't think about 2 years down the line. This ****tard and other national disgraces like Graham Taylor should be kept as far away from the England team as possible.

I remember people telling us to use Euro 2012 in order to prepare for the world cup in 2014. Maybe we can also use the Euro's in 2016 to prepare for the world cup in Russia.

Do they even need a CB? Kaboul will be back next season, so will Sandro. Along with Villa and Paulinho that is effectively 4 top signings. I am not sure about them competing for the title but unless we actually flex our so called new found financial muscle, we will be facing another scrap for Champions League qualification.

The thing with Spurs is that even if they get quality players, adding them to the quality they have in the team, they're Spurs, they just will never make it to the top, it's a small team mentality thing, Spurs might talk the talk, but mentally, as a club, they feel inferior to the likes of Arsenal and the rest of the other big clubs. Just look at how both their coaches, Redknapp and AVB have put a benchmark on saying how ending above Arsenal would count as a good season, see, they have this inferior mentality thing when it comes to the big clubs.

You look at some of the top quality players they've had over the previous seasons, and as usual, Spurs being Spurs, didn't really reach the glory land with it, yes, they've made progression in that they compete and end in the top 4 (here and there), but I think that's as good as it's really ever going to get for them.

I certainly hope you are right, Paulinho has looked one hell of a player in the Confeds.

I would like to add a caveat to this assertion that this may or may not be an accurate assessment of this evening's game <whistle>

Also, i'd like to bash Neymar repeatedly over the head with the pointy end a shovel. What a dirty player he is.

Is he still overrated, though? You claimed a while back, that Lucas was a better player and that Neymar only looked good because he was playing in the Brazilian league.

That's cause Messi is the greatest player of all time. Comparing him to Messi is silly. Neymar in his own right is a brilliant player and he shown the world what he can do in this tournament. Ronaldo should enjoying being the second best player in the world, while he can, because Neymar is coming to take that crown.

Paulinho was very good, but Luis Gustavo was better. The two of them were just as good against Uruguay. Gustavo man of the match in both games.
