Yesterday, very much against my better judgement, I allowed myself to be pursuaded by Mrs Fish to visit West Quay in Southampton. After several hours wandering around the place I began to get an inkling of what life must have been like for WW2 airman shot down in enemy territory - everyone looked suspicious or sinister. The simile became even more pronounced when we tried to leave the place and head for where we had left our car - it was impossible to find the place because none of the signs made sense. We were eventually given directions by a friendly chap wearing a stripey shirt - he even told us it was an awful place to try and leave! I felt even more like the escaped POW hoping his papers would fool the sentry. Still, I escaped and got back home safely! <nahnah> <somersault>

I though it is so very helpful on the one occassion I went to P*******th that previous escapees had left a trail marked with helpful signs saying "Way out of City".

I was home and safe in no time.

At least there is a signpost in Portsmouth! Southampton city council, through their superior wisdom, seem to have painted ever road sign on the road. So when there are any more than 4 cars waiting at a junction. No one knows what lane to be on......although Portsmouth city council do seem to have a fetish for traffic lights!

Don't confuse them Glastronaut. They might think they need their passport with them - imagine the hours of hilarity for the Hovertravel staff, looking at their passport photos (two noses/three ears, etc.)

Be more entertaining than watching "Britain's Got Talent" on T.V.:1980_boogie_down:

Oh dear! This really isn't funny. Base humour of this kind reflects poorly on you and lets down your fellow supporters.

Some of your Skate friends who contribute to this board are very clever and have a highly developed sense of humour. You sir do not and should therefore stick to contibuting to the Portsmouth News threads where all the other Skate morons can be found hurling the sort of moronic abuse you seem to enjoy.

If you can't say anything clever, interesting or funny don't say anything. Now that would be bliss.

My girlfriend used to live in Pompey. It amused me that on Southsea common there as a play area, simply named "The Skate Park".
