"Too Drunk To ****" by The Dead Kennedy's. Did you know that **** Peel's favourite sone ever was "Teenage Kicks" by The Undertones. The original lyric was "I'm gonna hold it tight" also about masturbation. Relax by FGTH was banned by Cliffy wannabe Mike Read and automatically thrust it in at No. 1.
That's the thing about. It got to the stage where bands were releasing dodgy sounding songs knowing they would be banned and all but guaranteeing them a hit, regardless of how **** the song was. I remember Radio 1 tried to ban Fairytale of New York a few years back because it contained the word '***got'
Hard to believe these days. Pistols - God Save the Queen. So it was Her Majesty's Silver Jubilee - trivial reason to ban it, and the Beeb then fixed the charts so it didn't get to No.1.
