If Barca get two offers at the release clause amount then they will be able to choose who to sell him to. They'd choose Al Qaeda over Real.

They probably will, he'd be very good value at that money.
With Ancelotti in place things should now start moving in the transfer market.

Ancelotti will do well at Real. He's used to clearing up Jose's crap.

Isn't it up to the player, not the club?

As far as I understand a club is obligated to accept a bid that meets the minimum release clause, and as a result the player can then meet the club and discuss personal terms.

As far as I am aware a club cannot choose to reject a bid that meets the Min Rel Clause even if there is a second bid that meets the requirements.

But maybe the rules have changed or someone else knows for sure?

Surely the club will HAVE to accept both bids if he has a release clause, and then the player can then choose which of the clubs he wants depending on whos offering the better terms.
He can just flatly refuse to agree terms with one club, im sure clauses say that the club have to accept the bid, its then down to the Buying club, the player and the agents to agree personal terms.

If the club receives two bids that meet the minimum release clause then they can choose who to sell to as they will have fulfilled their legal commitments to the agreement ie to let the player go when a certain price has been agreed.

The player has to accept the contract after the club allows real to talk to the player, they can still reject the other but can't choose to sell to, the say is the players in the end, he can choose not to go to Real and stay at Barca as per his current contract.

But if the player in question fails to agree personal terms with that club, surely the other club who made a bid will become front runners they cannot just disregard the bid if it meets the requirements of the release clause.
The most the club could do is agree with their preferred club first and give them first crack at the player, but if he wants to go to the second club, I dont think they would be able to stop him.

Is there not a worry that Thiago might want to go back to Barca after a few years?

I know he's technically not a Basque local but even still.

Cracking signing for you if you get him though. Will put a lot of defensive strain on Carrick though.

He probably would but as long as he contributed to our succes over a few years aka Ronaldo then I don't see a problem.

If I was going to clutch at straws he has just tweeted in English - which he never does, so this might be a sign he's coming to England ( matth type logic ? )

That would almost certainly happen but why not benefit in the interim?

we shouldn't be worried from Real threat to hijack the deal, but other desperate one may be, such as PSG, Monaco, city ..etc
1- he will be having same problem in Real .. he want more first team matches
2- doubt Barca will want to sell him to their rival

Anyone recall the last time a decent player moved from Barcelona to Madrid?

Unlikely to happen imo. Plus he wants playing time. That's why we are miles out in front as favourites to sign him.

    Doubt he would tbh.

He couldn't give a **** about Barcelona. He's not a Catalonian and his ambition is to be a successful football not a successful Barcelona player.

    Good to see you

That depends on the release clause. Phil Jones was able to force a move from Blackburn to Utd for the £16m value of his release clause despite Liverpool offering £22m, and Blackburn weren't able to choose to sell to Liverpool.

Heinze was a different kettle of fish as it's not entirely clear whether he had a release clause, or simply a written agreement allowing him to leave if a club met Utd's valuation, which didn't hold up under tribunal. Alternatively, his clause may have included a provision allowing Utd not to sell to clubs in the same league. Dunno whether or not Thiago's contract has a similar provision.

Not really a worry - most players don't stay at clubs longer than a few years nowadays. Like KE says, it didn't stop Ronaldo from being outstanding, and didn't stop Fabregas from being a great player at Barca.

Besides which, if we're activating his release clause then we don't need to include a buyback clause in the contract, so if he does return to Barca in a few years it will be for a big profit which will help us pursue other targets in future.

Barcelona fans think fabregas is a bit ****.

He's a hoofball specialist who would be more at home at stoke...

    High standards or what.
