http://www.telegraph.co.uk:80/sport...ells-Rangers-fans-we-dont-need-your-help.html Hearts manager Gary Locke tells Rangers fans: we don't need your help Hearts manager Gary Locke has told the Rangers fans who say they would have snubbed a proposed friendly with the administration-hit club that they do not need their help. Reports this week claimed the Tynecastle manager had approached Ibrox counterpart Ally McCoist in the hope of lining up a fundraising match to help the financially stricken capital club. But a spokesman for the Rangers Supporters Association claimed the Ibrox faithful would not have attended the fixture after Hearts voted against plans to allow Rangers to re-enter the Scottish Premier League following their liquidation last summer. Locke said: "I was asked a question about whether I'd spoken to Ally. Of course I did but it was really just to see what his pre-season plans were, just because we needed a game. It was done before we went into administration and was the same as I've done with just about every manager in Britain. "Ally said that Rangers had their pre-season plans in place. That was as far as it went. "Then I picked up papers saying I was begging for a game. That's certainly not the case. I know Ally well and I was just trying to get a pre-season game. It wasn't a must. I've asked Berwick Rangers for a game but they have got their plans organised but that never gets a mention because it's Rangers.
So Gary asked Ally if they had an opeing for a game against Hearts and Ally said no . Is that not what the original story said ? Deary me . Nothing to see here folks .........move along .
How it was reported in the Record: RANGERS fans have told Hearts they had a cheek to even ask for a fund-raising friendly at Tynecastle. Jambos boss Gary Locke admits he spoke with Ally McCoist about playing a game to raise money for the stricken Gorgie club. The Light Blues declined because they have already organised a full pre-season schedule of matches at home and abroad. Ibrox supporters say they would have snubbed the game anyway because Hearts were the first SPL club last summer to deny their bid to play top-flight football amid their own financial woes. Drew Robertson, of the Rangers Supporters Association, said: “It’s probably just as well the game isn’t going ahead. Rangers fans would not have supported it. “Hearts had plenty to say about the position of Rangers last year. Now they are in the same place it’s a bit rich of them to expect a game.” Mark Dingwall, of the Rangers Supporters Trust, said: “We have sympathy with ordinary Hearts fans but it would have been impractical to have played this game given the behaviour of their club towards us last year.” Vladimir Romanov issued a statement last June in which he said the Ibrox club only had themselves to blame for their cash crisis. The Jambos made it clear they would oppose all attempts by newco Rangers to play in the SPL – a stance quickly backed by almost every other club. Romanov said: “The football mafia represented by former owners of Rangers FC ... are to blame for some of the worst problems to hit Scottish football and must not be allowed back in under any circumstances.” Mischief making again by the Media, what a shocker. I think that's the point Locke is making.
