We don't need a LB. We've got Evra to start, and Buttner deserves a fair shot to prove himself as his potential heir to the left back spot.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23083753 Looks like we are looking to get Baines. Not sure it's a priority unless Evra is moved on
Yeah I don't get it, Evra is a great left back so unless he wants to move we shouldn't even be looking.
We were looking at baines prior to last season. Evra is on his last legs to a degree. Baines offers more going forward and is great at free kicks. Though I agree it is t really a priority.
Evra's not been the best defensively for a couple of years. He's often caught out of position and has a bad habit of giving the ball away unnecessarily. He's also 32 and, I believe, knackered as he's rarely had a rest for several years. Buttner is good going forwards but can't defend. I don't know about Fabio as he's gone from playing a CL final at right back to being the QPR reserve left back, really he should be exactly the same as Rafael! Baines would be a great signing. He was the best left back in the league last season and the policy of buying the best player in any given position sits nicely with me. It worked with RVP. He's also very good at set pieces which may mean RVP won't have to take corners which has always struck me as a bit odd. In general our defence needs sorting out as Rio, Vidic and Evra are all past their peak. Moyes will have recognised that, probably moreso than Fergie whose one fault in my opinion was showing too much loyalty to some of his older/favourite players. Having said all that, I'm not a fan of managers raiding their old clubs for their best players. It's a bit disrespectful.
I think Buttner is good but not good enough to play for UTD may be for other mid/bottom table clubs , he is good going forward but defensively he decisions making are really questionable in many occasions
Can't really argue with that but I would hate to see Evra forced out I still think he has a lot to give ( I believe he also pushes back Eric ) I wouldn't have a problem with Baines and always like to see British players signed as well I just don't think it makes sense to be looking for left backs at the moment.
I don't think Baines would force the issue either I'm sure he would come if a bid is accepted but I don't think he would hand in a transfer request if Everton keep rejecting them.
Real Madrid and BM are now supposedly showing interest in Thiago. I doubt we will get him as he's probably just get some assurances from Barca and stay there.
Have they got a choice if he has a release clause which is supposedly the case ? I think he'd struggle toget a game at either though.
Up to a point. There's only so much we'd pay for a 28 year old left back. I'd say 15 million. If Everton refuse to sell and we pull out it's at this point that Baines thinks about it and decides he will never get the chance to play for United again and says he wants to leave.Simple fact. As for Tiago, Bayern simply don't need him but he'd get in Reals side. It's up to Barca then whether they'd sell to them, it's happened before but not when we were also interested. Good chance of getting him I reckon.
I'l love to sign Thiago but it's already showing signs of turning into a Snijder type saga. As far as I'm aware Thiago has a 17m release clause for not playing enough games last season. I think if any club meets that value release clause then Barca has to sell if the player wants to go, That's why I think Real Madrid could yet get involved.
