Not having a go mate but have you seen Alberto play much?

    You say "looks nothing special"

We have obviously scouted him and they thought he was worth doing

Maybe he's better at RF and LF than Suso?

Loads of teams missed out on Michu, lets see how he gets on next year

Does Ericksen want to join us?

And at the moment we do need a stronger bench to be honest with you (as well as first11, new cb, dm imo)

And yes I would like to see Henri here

Who would I rather see in the team/on the bench:

Downing and Shelvey or Aspas and Alberto. I'd pick the latter <ok>

Thats it, with the way BR gets us playing both Shelvey and Downing are to slow really. Especially Shelvey

I just hate this writing off new signings before the lads even kicked a ball for us, its annoying

Put it this way, I think our club has learnt lessons and from Jan we seem to have got our house in order. We were like top 4 form with Coutinho and Sturridge wasnt we?

Same with Cout, cant get into Inter Milan team etc and hes done alright so far hasnt he?

Lets just have a bit of faith

We got Allen but I think he will still be useful for us you know

I'd like to see Shelvey, Downing, Suso (loan) Assaidi (strnage one this, never got much chance but BRs clearly not interested) and Pachceo (Never made the grade really although did well at Norwich couple of yrs ago) from the midfield leave

    Well said.

I can understand some concern - we do need quality who can come straight into the team. Of our current signings, only Mignolet and Aspas are likely to push for a first XI space. I see Alberto as one for the future however he could have similar impact as Coutinho.

However, the key thing is that the signings are upgrades on what we currently have which means our squad should improve.

But we musn't forget - we're still in June. There is plenty of time left in this transfer window.

I would throw Toure in there as well. Still has something to give I think.

Hmm personally I don't think so. I'd be concerned if we had to rely on him more often than not, hence why we're still seeking a CB.

look i don't see any of them really being wows or something to get excited about getting more than 7th. we should be better than 7th anyway but i think right now we are just looking at 6th at best.

spurs if rumours are true are going to be serious challengers and arsenal are under threat. city and chelsea will be way ahead of us so what we are going is just buying what we can.

anyone can have a coutinho impact but equally they can be a downing. you never know.... however nobody in pundit world is going to sit up and take note of LFC this summer as any sort of threat are they? I believe if we do anything we will be a surprise package at this point.

    lets be honest in that.

then defend the signings or attack them both positions in my view are posturing on sides of an argument that neither side can support.

I don't see the goals against address at this point and honestly what we really got in our favour is a full year of transition to rodgers under our belt. Everton have changes to make so i think we can go higher but i simply can't see us passing arsenal or spurs.

The hard fact is we are in for players with Swansea, Cardiff And Southampton! Now no offence to these sides, but what is going on!

I think we're two big signings away - attacking midfielder (Henri/Eriksen) and a centre back (Papa/Alderweirald)

Can't see it happening now - reliable journalists who are close to the club have dismissed that rumour now but did says Rodgers really wanted him. The transfer committee must have voted against it.

And I'm sorta with MITO - the current signings aren't particularly exciting nor will they launch us up the table to fight for the title. But I do think the signings alone are improvements and are capable of earning a few more points.

However, I feel we need two big signings as I previously mentioned and this is what should launch us and make us a lot more competitive.

This might be factually accurate but equally it could be said these clubs are being over ambitious in their targets too... southampton seem to be the latest spenders so i wonder where they'll go.

on the ohter hand jimmy is irght that adding to big quality players like eriksen or papadopolous would improve us but away form what 4th?

If you line up paulinho (inter bound i hope) and villa for spurs then build on thier back lin with those types of options you can't put us ahead of them with suarez going.

I would hope we add two realy top players but i think we are looking more at functional players and potential. Who knows aspas could be dirk kuyt with touch and alberto could be another coutinho but the other end of it is we don't have a hyppia and we certainly don't have alonso.

We just have too much competition for 4th. if it were us v arsenal in a straight fight i'd think we have a shout but right now i think we have a lot more to do...... I can see an 11 but i am unsure if that 11 is actually good enough. remember we looked at everotn puddling along in 6th for years and laughed but the reality is thats where we are at.

Papa and HM are two well known targets for LFC so the club clearly recognise the need for 2 big players.

I'm confident that if we don't land these two, then the club have other big targets in mind.

Well what would you lads say our strongest eleven is with the current players?

    ---------------Reina------------
    *Johnson-*Toure--Agger-Enrique
    ---------Gerrard---*Lucas-------
    --*Aspas----------------Coutinho
    ---------Suarez--Sturridge--------

The one's with * on them are the positions in my opinion we need to strengthen to compete consistantly for top four and above. I've added Lucas purely on his current form.

I think the reality is that it's wide open to be quite honest.

We were absolute dog **** at the start of last season which I just can't see being the case this year - we ended so well and temperament will be world's away from what it was in August 2012.

I just don't see where people saying "Arsenal will be better, Spurs will be better, Chelsea & City will be better" - this isn't fact. Spurs might be utter crap next season, Everton I can't see having a better season that last year and Arsenal are still Arsenal - I've been saying for the last 5 years they'll be better this year but they aren't.

If I was to put money on anyone improving on last season it would be LFC - bag 6 points in our opening 2 games then bring on UTD! Doing this really changes the mentality and players start to believe they are good enough to be at the top end. Draw them both then lose to UTD then yes, 6th at best again <ok>

Having Coutinho and Sturridge from the start of the season will help as well. <ok>

"Aleksandar Kolarov admits that he could leave Manchester City in search of regular first-team football after attracting interest from Juventus.

Kolarov is keen to play regularly and has been linked with a number of clubs around Europe.

Speaking to the Serbian Sports Arena, Kolarov said: "I am constantly in contact with the club (City), and we will soon see what will happen.

"I'm happy in Manchester, but I want to play regularly.

"Money is not everything, I would be available to cut my salary. Simply, I want to be in the regular eleven."

Kolarov is expected to report for pre-season training at Manchester City next week."

So, hes a left back, hes 27. Apparently earning approximately £95k a week.

Hes willing to take a pay cut, say to £60k a week. Within our pay bracket possibly.

Question is, would you have him.

I would personally love to see him at our club, at a cost of say £8 million and wages of £60k a week it would be a great signing.

    What you think?

    ----------

Taken from the Newcastle board, what do you guys think? I reckon he'll be a good addition to the squad tbh.

this is the team i'd play but i'd play it in 4-2-3-1... my opinion is there is no option in the midfield duo and I think you take out suarez then you rely totally on sturridge who WILL get injured for 10-12 games every season.

Mighty, i said if it was just arsenal and us then i give us a chance but i say 6th as i think if spurs rumours come off they will fly. I also mentioned we will have one year of Rodgers under our belt which hints to a better start BUT there is no gaurentee we will ge toff to a good start nor on the other hand anything to say we won't (other than sturridge injury, suarez suspension or sale)

I say 6th and in so doing write off everton a bit.... but we are talking utd even under moyes, chelsea billions, city billions, arsenal and spurs... then us. that's where we are at.... so no buys thus far do much other than give us options to play if injuries occur.... also the only vital thing to say is we have not resolved the leaky defence from set piece nor the midfield getting over run.

Yep agree with pretty much all that, I guess two or three more good signings could make all the diffrence
