So on the back of a previous thread, I was thinking (makes a change I know!) we seem to have a wide cross section of "mature" fans who are wise and well travelled. I'd be very surprised if none of our regular posters hadn't been on a holiday abroad..(Saga for some of you !!) Anyway, apart from SB who takes the P**s, most of us have travelled a bit, so in no particular order. list your 5 favourite cities on the globe. don't need reasons, just a list. I'll start (obviously) & let you guys/girl join in. So. London Rome Florence Sydney Bordeaux/Avignon....tough one . oh ok Avignon Over to you enjoy
Appologies to those that miss out.. they are New York Amsterdam Edingborough soldeu (Andorra and Ko Samui, Ko phi phi & krabi !
How dare you take it as being gospel that we are all wise and well travelled. The furthest I'm been from Australia is when I paddled my surfboard out pass the waves to get ready for the next set ...................... and wise. don't even get me started on that one............. the nerve of some people!
I'll be surprised if no-ne says London....even Flyer....!! cant wait for SB's post...really intrested to see that !
Dubrovnik up there for me. Like the south of France minus the French and half the price. Amsterdam Vegas Washington Barcelona Watford town centre.
Venice Bergen Bilbao Barcelona Trying to resist saying London as it is my home city.........so will go for Bordeaux instead
Queens...Bergen is in Norway and the old part of the City around the harbour is a World Heritage Site, dating from the 14th century or so......Also if you dig back into R's history you'll find they were our first ever opponents in european competition.....but that is not the reason i chose it!!!!!! One other bit of info.....it rains for something like 300 days a year and yes it did rain when we were there. No doubt Oslo & Norway will be able to give some more detail on the place
Mate! I thought you was an "old skool" fan? We beat Brann Bergen 11-0 on aggregate in the UEFA Cup in 76/77, Bowlsey scored a hat trick home and away! Ahhh, my mate Stan.
Farflung....those were the days!!! Didn't Stan hold the record for many years of most goals scored in Europe in a season......until they changed the format to the thing they have now where you can play 20 odd games* in europe in a season.....(*slight exageration)
Some strange choices so far. I hated Milan and Vegas. Will never go back to either. My five are, New York - If you're Irish, go on St Patrick's Day. You will be proud as punch as you watch the parade and see the effect your forefathers had on the city. Sydney - Fantastic city. Loved the Harbour. Loved the ferry over to Manly. Buenos AIres - The best city in South America. It's getting a bit pricey so go soon. Munich - Lovely city centre. Great transport system. 1.5 hours on the train to the Innsbruck and the Alps. Barcelona - Careful with the pickpockets. I have friends here and go at least once a year. Love the city and they got Barca too
