Oh fcuk, three Prem clubs after Byram, one looking at a cash plus player. Fee is expected to be well below the £8m bandied about.

Guess this was inevitable, must be the only way McD is going to be able to fund his transfers. So if Mills does come, Peltier will no doubt switch to right back. Not sure how I feel about this really. Just hope that Harvey plays hardball as it isn't a solo approach, and forces the bid up!! Don't want to see us take anything less than £5m for Byram with add ons. He will play for England once he gets to the Prem.

No surprise but any links? Certainly dont want player plus cash as that would probably end up at another 200k plus some waste of space a la Morisson. 5m reinvested in transfers I could live with but there are two chances and slim has left the building

I'll believe it when I see it, but as you say, no surprise. That said, we should be looking for £8m+ plus add ons. If three PL clubs are genuinely bidding, Harvey really needs to earn his corn.

I don't think Byram is worth 8m. Infact I would go as far as saying he isn't worth half that, if we were in a different position he'd go for similar money as Snoddy went for. However saying all that, I believe considering he is still contracted to us for a while (believe its 3 years he has left) we can drive the price up. I said before the season finished I would accept a bid of 5m, in fact I think we'd be silly not to as that money, spent wisely could get us promoted. Best case scenario is we get him back on loan if we do sell him

I also wouldn't say that he is gonna play for england, thats a big statement and he's got a lot of work to do yet. I don't think he is as good as Clyne at Southampton for example.

Man City, Everton, a team in red is all I have managed to get so far. Liverpool or Arsenal? I worry the moment there is a player exchange included as it means we get a lot less cash. Man City makes sense as they need English players, Everton maybe to replace Neville and as competition for Coleman but they will probably bid low. Arsenal certainly would make sense as well, and they have young players to exchange. Link I can't give you as its a txt to my phone :) Trying to get more info today.

Just saw your post Josh, great points. I do though feel he is better than Clyne who is a head down player a la Aidie White. Byram does seem better and stronger defensively than Clyne, definitely more fierce in the tackle and good at breaking up attacks.

Losing Byram would suck, but back on loan for a season plus £5m+ cash to re-invest would probably be a good deal really.

Those loan deals are extremely rare and no way would Harvey be capable of organising it

Kiwi, can only see that as a possibility if it's Man City signing him. Then again, it will probably take a warehouse full of socks to negotiate that deal.

And there it is ... McD just been on Sky saying he is frustrated at lack of funds, not what he expected, and will have to sell to fund transfer pot to get his targets. Bye Bye Byram!!

Well I just read this on Sky:

Leeds United fans will have been concerned by talk that star defender Sam Byram could be sold this summer but manager Brian McDermott insists the 19-year-old is going nowhere...

Josh, if he said yes we are expecting to sell Byram it will weaken his position in terms of bargaining. He has always taken this stance, just as he did with Siggurdson at Reading. All it means is that interested clubs will have to up the ante if they want the player. The only way Byram stays for at least one more season is if Leeds sell a few others instead, but who? Also, a multi million pound bid for a young player is hard to resist because a) he may suffer a serious injury next season that destroys his sale value, b) he has a shocking second season with same consequence or c) you keep him and he doesn't reach his potential. What would you do?

Well if you have to sell to buy, Byram is the only player of value. You might get £500k for McCormack,Peltier or Austin, but how much are the rest worth?

FFS...one good season and all the scummy premier vultures are hovering around. Why oh why can't we keep our good players. If he is sold, it'll probably be for peanuts and we'll probably end up with a 40 yr old with a dodgy knee. Now I know I should calm down and I know this is just a rumour, but still it sickens me. We've no ambition and no money....FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...I need a drink...<grr>
