Beckford and Danns are the major ones the need shifting. Their wages will be very hard to shift I suspect Gallagher wont leave but might go out on loan. Richie Wellens can easily find a club but we might need to subsidise some of his wages, same with Sean St. Ledger Martyn Waghorn will be one of the easier ones to shift as he can offer something and wont cost alot in wages but we might want a decent fee of around 500-750K Danny Drinkwater will be another where we would want a decent fee 1-1.5M. He will be one of the easier ones to shift Getting rid of Zak Whitbread will be like selling a dead horse and Jamie Vardy if Nigel decides he is no longer any use we will even have to loan him or accept we will see very little of the 1M we paid back
According to the papers, Wes Morgan is off back to Forest for £1.5m. Bit of a step backwards there, can't see it happening unless they offer him mega wages (suppose they can afford it these days). Mind you that same paper has linked us to re-signing Marlon King, so it's probably bollocks. Surely you won't sell the best centre back in the league to your closest rival?
Forest were stupid enough to do it, hopefully we aren't, can't see why we would want to get rid of him anyway, hes the anchor of this ship and club captain.
I don't think it's a case of you wanting to get rid, I'd have thought you'd do everything to keep him, I was just surprised at the low amount of money quoted. If he does leave for however much money, would that then make our offer of cash plus Jack Hobbs for KS more attractive?
I'd be gutted to lose Wes but stranger things have happened in football and Billy Davies obviously know him very well...
Lose our best 2 players and get 1 in that you don't want, no thanks. Wes is worth well more than the £1m that we paid for him now, hes got to be in the £4m mark, especially if we paid £5m for Mills
I don't know, they've got the money to tempt him and could make him club captain. Suppose it depends on what the player wants, but you're right about the fee, they won't get him for that; they'd have to double it and then some I imagine.
I really hope we aren't getting rid of the number of players that are suggested. We can't really afford to sell Whitbread and St. Ledger as it would leave only Morgan as a recognised centre half. Personally, with our tiny squad I'd like to sign a couple of players before letting anyone go.
I dont think Wes would go back. Nothing against Forest as he clearly loves the club but its a case of you should never go back. He just had the season of his career. Nigel has got him in the shape of his life and he is club captain, well loved and well paid here
Jermaine Beckford set to leave, Blackburn interested in Paul Gallagher and Kasper Schmeichel has gave an indication he is happy to stay here Not a bad day overall
Really!? I still don't understand this. I thought he was a good little player, no idea why we're letting him go. I guess you can only have a certain amount of central midfielders, and while we currently have 4 (King, James, Drinkwater, and Wellens), our midfield needs beefing up, so I guess we are looking to offload first. What do we think will happen with Wellens!?
Some on here won't like me saying this, but I suspect that Nigel has 'fallen out' with Drinkwater ... that is the only logical answer because Wellens is saying that HE wants to stay and fight for his place ... indicating that this is an option for him (i.e why make that statement if it's not the case) - which suggests that we probably don't 'have to sell before we buy' ... in which case the only plausible reason for selling a younger, promising, midfield player like Drinkwater is that the relationship between the player and 'the club' has irretreivably broken down ...
Well, you can look at it two ways... Firstly, I agree that a falling out does look the most likely cause behind this. But, secondly, for the majority of last season, we were crying out for some experience in the middle of the park, and also someone who isn't afraid to throw their weight around. I can't remember the last time we had a decent ball-winning midfielder for a sustained period of time? With Wellens confirming his stay (and thus, the experience), maybe we are looking for that midfield enforcer. With the form of James and King last season, Wellens staying, and potentially a new central midfielder coming in, that would probably put Drinkwater as 5th choice? Could have been decided it was best for both parties for him to move on... Not ignorantly following NP and claiming there is no chance of a falling out, I grant you, that's probably the most likely case Just giving my thoughts on another possibility...
Any chance we could move this Drinkwater discussion to here... http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/217566-Danny-Drinkwater
There's a bloke called Neil Danns who might be available, understand his current club might be willling to let him go ... was once very highly thought of ... shame we couldn't have got him last season ... as you say ... we were crying out for such a player
