The pre-season schedule has been announced and its very different to previous years.
We head to northern Italy at the start of July for a training camp and friendly fixtures which are TBC. Then we return to england to play Stevenage away, Peterborough away and New Yok Cosmos at the Vic.

Good mix there - take a few to POSH and Stevenage whilst some will go on the tour.

 

Looks like McGinn has signed for Sheff Utd

Seriously though, a pity he didn't get a longer deal, not that there is room for sentiment in football these days

I guess that he will only be a bit part player if he stays at Watford, so maybe he would like another season of regular games.

 

For me personally, I would like to see him being offered a player/coach role. I think he has a lot he can pass on to our younger players.

 

I agree with that, but have to wonder just how many coaches we have and is there space to take on another one.

 

Not to be rude to Lloyd as he is a legend, but how good would he actually be as a coach? I think what he can teach about passion, loyalty etc would be priceless, but actual technical skill to pass on? I'm not so sure....

You can certainly see an improvement in his play this season, so maybe a season or two more with this training and he could step in to be a coach... but not totally sure he would be an improvement on what we have already

We do seem to have a fascination of giving ex-players coaching roles when nearing the end of their careers....
