The BBC are reporting Macclesfield are offering a supporter the chance to play for them in a Conference game or cup game for ten minutes in an attempt to raise much needed funds in their bid to survive. Opens up many lines of thought about the rights/wrongs on doing this, although they do say it would have to be at the correct moment in a game ie last ten minutes if they were winning 3-0 or such like. I wonder how much we could have made from a similar act in the last ten minutes of our Wembley game ( im dreaming of scoring twice in my ten minutes and my goal celebration would have involved me being very close to Hollowhead lol!!! )
Don't players have to be registered to be eligible to play in a competitive match? seems like a lot of work to me!
No - like their crowd, it'll be more likely to stretch all the way around the nearest telephone kiosk.
Apparetnly they have now withdrawn this offer. I prefer the way we did it a few years back. Was it a compeition when someone was named in the squad, with a squad number of 50? Nice to have your name in the programme each match... but not anything too silly as being able play!
