Reports,(probably bollocks, that Ashley is willing to sell up providing he gets back his £300 million input. Who said we don't owe anyone?

For me the only problem is what kind of owners would we get and would things improve. Anyone know of a local lad who has made a mint and willing to buy this proud club with one of the biggest supports in the land.
We certainly don't want a Venkey's, Hicks & Gillette type owner but one who cares for the supporters and the media view of us, willing to remain in the background whilst sound footballing men run the day to day. Is it too much to ask?

Yes, he will - providing he gets the money he wants. And, yes, it's far too much to ask. If you're really lucky you might get owners who can be bothered with PR, so we'll get told what we want to hear.

Good point by David Graig on SSN. These big money people either want a top club or a London club. Who will pay 300m for Newcastle? looks like he's yours forever.

it would take a few years of consistently hovering around the top 7ish on the same financial structure we are on to make us an attractive proposition.
sadly i don't trust our ability to do that.

In the Indie this morning it said that it was for sale, Nedders. So, what's changed?

I think the club has always been for sale, and always will be. Everything has a price. Ashley isn't going to write off money though when he has been slowly making it back in recent times. That is just bad business.

Chronicle and now National media running with the fact it's not "for sale". Though WP is right, there's a price on everything in Ashleyland. £250m would probs do it. Not sure who'd ever pay for it.

Why? As I mentioned them above, Man City didn't have to do anything of the sort. Weren't they League One within the last 10-15 years? It's about someone rich wanting to be involved in football, usually from a less-accepted part of the World, to either be 'accepted' or to offer a Western slant on things.

Does anyone know who actually owns Newcastle United? Is it Sports Direct, MASH Holding Limited, Ashley himself as an individual or some other legal entity?

When I say own Newcastle United, I mean the company St James Holdings which Ashley had set up to hold the shares of Newcastle United.

Let's hope he sells to the right person to take the club forward.

I would rather somebody who can fund a Premier League team whilst also having a good knowledge of the club and city as well as a good grasp on how Football works.

A local billionaire who follows the team would be good.

Have we got one out there somewhere?

There isn't but they are millionaires, having a somebody like Barry Moat backed by a middle eastern consortium would be just perfect.

We are Newcastle Utd. The Middle Eastern's are more considered and conservative they would give us a nice smooth, boring ride to the top. Give me a manager fire'ing, Supermodel dating, vodka swilling Russian mafioso any day.

I think it's a non story. From the actual reports, it looks like he's not actively selling, but if the right offer comes in then he'd take it. Well blow me, that's amazing. I'm not trying to sell my house, but if somebody came along with the right offer I'd accept. There, I've said it. That should make the morning papers.
