Ash reckons Davies could be captain. One of the presenters interviewed Davies and reckons he will be too.
Good interview. Rick Skelton tweeted a question about the circumstances of Ash's departure and Ash laid the blame squarely at Nigel Pearson's door. The word "Liar" was mentioned!
I was really funny actually. He started by saying it would be unfair to mention any names, then in the very next breath called Pearson a liar! You could feel the hate over the airwaves!
Bit of a shameful episode for fans the way we did nothing to stop that. Ash just said Browny sulked a lot!! ha
The way in which Ian Ashbee left the club was one of the most distasteful events in Hull City's history. Club captain for nigh on 8 years from division 3 to the PL. His last game at the KC - in a white shirt of PNE - was one of the saddest sights I've seen at football.
That's not actually true, he was offered a new deal, but he wanted a longer one. Not that it matters, as that wasn't the reason he handed in a transfer request, he got himself in a bit of other with Jimmy and didn't like the way Pearson handled it.
I seem to remember the official HCFC story at the time was 'our captain has demanded a new contract on the eve of a game and stormed out of training when he was not immediately granted his request- we can't have people doing that' or something along those lines. No doubt two sides to this story.
It was that weird time when we seemingly weren't allowed to criticise the club at all. Now we're in the Premieship and everything's going swimmingly it's fine though.
I thought Ash said he wanted a years contract, Pearson agreed to it then changed his mind and forced Ash to hand a transfer request in. He also said he fell out with Brownie alot especially after the Man Citeh debacle, but wouldnt say how long for. He was a regular on the naughty step
