Latest books that I have read: Bobby Robsons autobiography - Farewell but not goodbye The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler which I thought was excellent up to the ending which seemed rushed and that the author had run out of ideas; 77 Shadow Street (or something) by Dean Koontz. The wife always raves about his books. I thought this was gash. Currently reading James Herbert's last book, Ash, which is a bit slow at getting going.
Rather bizarrely, I was just reading The Wasp Factory and was 2 thirds of the way through when Iain Banks died. I've now started re-reading the Hannibal series. I bet Thomas Harris is ****ting himself.
If you fancy something sporty but not all sport then I'd heartily recommend A Season With Verona - the best book on being a football fan I have ever read and pisses all over Fever Pitch. The Power of One with a running boxing theme is also amazing.
currently reading: "A Shed of One's Own: Midlife Without the Crisis" by Marcus Berkmann. Sad to say but it could be about me. Really hilarious. and "Deadhouse Gates" by Steven Erickson (2nd book of the Malazan Book of the Fallen cycle).
Wouldn't disagree but would also put two Tom Sharpe novels up there with it 'Riotious Assembly' and 'Indecent Exposure' ... all three made me laugh out loud whilst reading ... the Sharpe books are about the aparthed regime in South Africa ... Konstabel Els is one of the funniest characters to ever appear in a novel IMHO ...
If you like scarey books I've never read anything quite as good as Ghost Story by Peter Straub (which is not a ghost story by the way! LOL) - read it at University and gave the book to my then girlfriend - she loved it but would not even go to the loo on her own whilst reading it ... they tried to make a film of it but it was cack ... read it.
Watched that Three Day Millionaires years ago and it was quite good, I'm sure Central Library in town have a copy for rental if anyone wants to see it. Reading Skagboys by Irvine welsh at the moment or trying to..... I'm not Scottish and am having big ****ing trouble deciphering the first few pages as its written in a broad Scots accent.
Not read that one of Straub's fosse, read a few of his years ago and thought they were ****e. This applies to Lee Child too absolutely dreadful but made a fortune

The geezer Stephen Fry has his friends and enemies but I've read all his books, which I have really enjoyed. Special mention to "Moab is my washpot" . A great read .
