Ahem... So definitely not for the second time tonight (Thanks Qwerty) we will move on to the vote for CMs in our Opposition Team XI, and with no copying and pasting... A much stronger field of nominees this time, once again we will have to step into the dangerous murky waters of multiple choice voting , so, vote for the TWO players who had the most outstanding performance(s) against Saints in this past season. No false-start this time, off you go!
I have to say I'm surprised that none of the Arsenal team that sodomised us so expertly have been nominated for anything.
The idea of that midfield partnership in real life sends shivers down my spine. Think it's a combination of it being a real all-round team effort and us pulling our pants down and bending down in front of them with 'Sodomise Me' written across our bum cheeks.
Also thinking about it Walcott got his name in the right-mid nominations despite playing 15 minutes at the Emirates and doing absolutely zilch at his spiritual home, so one sodomist got his hat in the ring!
I didn't even think about him, to be honest. Not due to a lack of merit, his name just didn't pop into my head.
I love Fellaini, and if you asked me to vote on the best central midfielder he might get it. But I thought Saints did a good job against him. They didn't exactly shut him down but they did IMO contain him. Cazorla totally tore us to shreds. It was ridiculous how unable to stop him we were. It was a result of when we played Arsenal and I don't think he could do it again. Still, that was a far more dominating performance than anything Fellaini did.
We managed to contain Fellaini at St. Mary's but he completely dominated us at Goodison at both ends, surprised Cazorla didn't get his due though.
Well, Mikey I am not sure of your definition of "containing" but I must have watched a different game. He didn't score, but there are two sides to a game and at St Mary's he seemed to make every clearance and get on the end of most things that he had cleared. At one point I turned to my Dad at the game when Fellaini picked the ball up after it had been cleared and said "Didn't he clear that." Yes we "contained" him to stop him from scoring, but he still had a great performance, just more on the defensive side than attacking.
Meant to click Mulumbu along with Fellaini, but I misclicked and only seclected Fellaini, hence the odd number
Definetely Mulumbu and Fellaini, the latter seemed to be everywhere on the pitch, especially at St Mary's
Indeed, I was speaking in the attacking sense, at Goodison it seemed he could do whatever he wanted at both ends whilst at St. Mary's he wasn't the same wrecking ball going forwards, more of a defensive bulldozer.
