So, it seems WBA want £1m for Tamas, and he's on £25k per week. Instant end of any further speculation on this one for sure.

Barnsley have spent £300k on O'Grady from Wednesday and £250k on that highly rated lad from Munich. Bristol City have signed a player for £350k. I see Southampton have signed a lad for £8m, yes I know they're in't Prem but it is Southampton FFS!!!

The fact we are signing an unproven striker from Oldham in a hit or miss deal on a free, and struggling to get other transfers over the line (of which most if not all will be frees) ... well it just goes to show how far this great club has been allowed to fall. Bates seriously raped our club, and his greedy little fingers clutched at every available penny as he lined his pockets and made a serious profit for himself.

It seems the only way for Leeds United to recover is for GFH to sell the club to someone with money who is serious about getting a quality team on the pitch with the clear intent that promotion is paramount. Until this happens we will continue to flounder, no matter who we have as manager. The writing was on the wall when GFH kept Harvey on as CEO, allowed Bates to stay as chairman and then had the gall to name him president for life. WTF?

Makes me think twice about going to games knowing Bates is still involved, regardless of what capacity it may be in. The crook is stinking up our club and needs to fcuk off once and for all, and GFH should hop on a camel and bounce off into the sunset.

Regardless of who we sign in this window, the current owners are strangling our club with their amatuerish behaviour and complete idiocy!! Stop selling off bits of the club to "investors" who won't stick a penny in as all they want is a quick profit should we luck out and get promotion. We're going to end up with a number of owners who hold small amounts of shares, decision making will suffer and if there is a crunch and cash is needed, they'll sew up their pockets.

It is a pretty depressing scenario!!

The bottom line reading your post Billy (and I agree with what you say) is that none of these people really give a toss about Leeds United and the supporters. The fact that we as fans can't really do much about it and have to suffer season after season hurts.

It hurts to see other clubs who don't have our support go out and spend some money on a few players at least to give the fans a bit of hope.

It is either going to take a bloody miracle or us fans making a stand and saying enough is enough.

It really hit home today how far we've fallen when I was down my local gym and they were showing a re- run of our game at Arsenal (last game of 03/04 season I think it was) when we won 3-2 with Viduka scoring the winning goal - and that was despite having Wilcox in the side and Reid as manager <yikes>

And to think I thought we were crap then <doh>

We're a million miles away from having anywhere near as good a side as we had only nine years ago, and that was a team that only narrowly avoided relegation.

Just really pisses me off <grr>

Not much has changed I'm afraid since the takeover. Bates hanging around, Harvey and Williams still in charge of all deals and were still broke and unable to sign anyone. Certainly not what any of us had hoped for

There's a rumour doing the rounds that everything's been held up due to impending 'investment', which is apparently significant enough to present us with our new Chairman. It resonates a bit as we still haven't had an announcement about the name of our new Chairman. Stock Market usually expects these announcements well up front.

    Gawd knows .....

Tamas isn't worth 1m and 25k a week in wages regardless of whether we can afford it or not.

Wow, Wednesday bought a player for 300k.... Jennings was a free transfer in the end as far as I'm aware

Southampton are in the prem, your right and they also have a fair bit of money to spend. I reckon they'll spend around 20m this season. They spent a fair bit last summer as well even compared to other prem teams so I have no idea where that comparison is.

I'm kinda sick of defending Leeds, why is everyone turning on them when its still only June. I am normally the impatient one but I seem like the only one willing to give em a chance. We ended up spending around 3m last summer and that was all before the sale of Snoddy.

They've had six months to line this up. Whats odds, even if it happens, transfer window will be either closed or will be so late, all McD targets will be gone. Of course, we can always look forward to the season after next then. Investment is needed this week. we're fooling ourselves to believe anything else

Josh, that's the one, Dale Jennings. He went to Barnsley for £250k and they also bought O'Grady FROM Wednesday for £300k. Not sure if Owls have spent money on anyone yet.

Comparison to Saints is it just shows how huge the gap to Prem is when a club of their size can fork out £8m on a player without blinking, yet when they were in the Championship that kind of signing was frankly impossible. Grrr

Howya Billy. There must be players with potential out there who cost less than 500,000. The lad Rowe from the Posh being an example. Like yourself I'll back the team till the day I die, but since ridsdale ****ed the club up it's been mainly frustration after frustration. How and why a club the statue and history of Leeds United hasn't had a major investor is beyond me. Don was right we are cursed as a club...:emoticon-0101-sadsm

I thought Jennings was a free transfer but I just checked and you are right, it was 250k. Either way, 550k spent isn't huge and the amount of money spent doesn't necessarily get you promoted either. I keep saying it we spent a fair amount (around 3 or so million) of money last season but it was all on crap. I would like to see McDermott given a similar amount and I would say he would do a much much better job with it.

I really have not got my negativity goggles on just yet, I really don't understand the rush. I know its frustrating not having any new signings to talk about but thats it really. If we haven't signed a complete minimum of 5 players before the opening day which I am 100% sure we would have then my negativity may start to leak out. For now, I'm just staying relaxed and trying to be patient

I think that the majority of us were hoping to get the players in by pre season, so they could have a chance to gel in and get used to Maccers tactics. But like you say it's too early to panic, in Maccer we trust. Its the board that worries me...

In an ideal world perhaps but no team will have the majority of signings completed by the time they start pre-season. In fact, currently the only team I am jealous of their dealings is Blackburn

It's worth pointing out as well that many players will be reluctant to commit to a club this early in the window, because they know if they wait a little while longer, a better deal might come along. As McDermott said, we don't want these players, the ones that are just trying to get a little more money. So we will have to sift through them a bit to find the good ones.

I know it's only speculation but it's so much nicer to be linked to talented, up and coming young players like Rowe, Forrester and Luke Murphy rather than Varney, Norris and Andy Gray <doh>

My gripe really is that McD has seven players lined up who want yo come. Rowe, for example, has publicly stated Leeds is his choice. So, if players have committed to join, it is a worry that McD hasn't been given the funds yet, and that's the point. GFH seem to have no cash available to get the job done!!!
