One goal can be the difference between being a Premier League club or remaining a Championship one. Our strikers goals made a difference, yours didn't I'm afraid.
That'll teach SB to play him in goal. How can a player that spent most of the season coming off the bench cost you points? Despite the fact that he scored one of the goals that sealed our return to the PL?!
In that case Knockhaert obviously cost you £60 Million with his misses from 12 yards and then 6 yards in quick succession
Absolutely. But by your logic, no more than any other miss from any of our players during the season.
All got a bit silly over the last page - Certainly I take the point that it is not necessarily the amount of goals that a player scores that makes the overall difference but rather in which games and at what point ... you could argue that we wasted 9 goals in our home games against Huddersfield and Ipswich because we only need 3 to win those games ... and those nine scored spread across other games would have made a significant difference to our season ... but of course, the more you score the better your prospects must be, not least from goal difference ... a rather good demonstration of this occurred in one of our other home games ... where even David Nugent managed to notch a hat-trick against a bunch of northern numpties ...
More significantly, it's been off topic for a couple of pages! But, to continue with the point of this straying thread, I've never heard Ronaldo, Lampard or Rooney say: "chalk off those goals against the relegated sides please. They clearly weren't good enough for Prem so I don't want those goals on my CV!" It doesn't matter who you score against...only that you take as many chances as you can over the course of a season and hit or surpass your season's target. EVERYONE striker in the league had the opportunity to score against every defence (notwithstanding injuries, suspensions and transfers)...and only seven strikers scored more than Nugent over the season...which isn't bad when you consider Wood is our man attacker (and was one of the seven).
