Gutted if true , he more than proved himself last season and would have made a massive contribution this season Dwight Tiendalli has failed to reach an agreement with Swansea over a new contract, the Dutch defender's agent has revealed. Tiendalli impressed for the Swans after signing a short-term contract in September and has been in talks over extending his stay, with Michael Laudrup keen to keep hold of the 27-year-old. But Tiendalli, who earned his first Netherlands cap earlier this month, is not happy with the terms on offer and could be on his way out of the Liberty Stadium. A host of clubs across Europe are preparing to pounce for the forrmer FC Twente star, who is comfortable playing on the left and right hand side of defence. "We have not reached an agreement with Swansea," Tiendalli's representative Sebastien Casenaz confirmed to talkSPORT. "Dwight has been very good this season and the caps he earned with the Dutch national team came as a reward for his performances on the pitch with Swansea. "As a free agent, off course Dwight is attracting interest from clubs in England and Germany. Currently, discussions continue." Hope he and the board agree on terms. However if he is trying to hold the club to ransom by demanding more money then bye bye as far as I am concerned. I want to see players here playing for Swansea because they want to and not opt for the more lucrative options at other clubs , a la Canas.
David, have you taken your medication ?? Wage structure restraints?? That aside, I agree. As a free agent he no doubt fancies a pay day (good enough for the lad) but would we want to pay him more than our 1st team left/right backs? What message would that send to NT, AR and BD? We were good for him, hopefully he prefers a decent wage, guaranteed European/World exposure and continued Holland recognition rather than a pay day possibly leaving him in obscurity/benched in a system that doesnt suit with a World Cup year coming.
Odd really a Dutch international that was kept out of the side by a young local lad, did you ever think that would happen? Could not have imagines that a year ago !
Tie deli is a reasonably good player but realistically he's a squad player at best certainly not in our best eleven, and therefore his wages should reflect that. It's an area that we are extremely strong at the moment with Taylor,Ben Davies, Rangel and we also have a few younger prospects like Jazz Richards and Daniel Alfi. Rather spend the money we save on his wages to bring in cover where it's needed i.e. centre back and or a striker. I hope he stays but not at the risk of inflated wages.
I think we should push the boat out to keep him, he is very good down the right flank, and excellent at getting in and around the opposition box, but if he's being unreasonable with wages, then au revoir Tiendalli baby!.......
