Uff, I'm determined to wait for the big screen but the suspense is killing me! Intense like the man himself, I suppose.
I suspect it'll be even more intense for you. I have what could be called the extended version, which means someone has intercut all the DVD extras (interviews) into the main feature. That works really well (although it's nigh on three hours long) except that certain emotional footage scenes are cut halfway through, including the dramatic, building soundtrack, as it switches to Ron Dennis or Alain Prost or whoever, and then abruptly returns to the scene and the soundtrack. The music is excellent, incidentally. I have to say, it was highly emotional even though it did that. Allowing the scenes to play out as intended might be quite stressful.
Thank gawd it's not three hours for the cinema release, too long for me in a place like that! It's funny because even though I hear and read so much that it's a special film, I've not been expecting it to be like a 'proper' film with the whole emotional rollercoaster. Thanks for that because it's the first time I've had that insight. I think it's out in a couple of weeks now so not too long to wait but I'd like to see it at the cinema because I've never seen F1 in that way before.
Oh, good. I have a problem with anything over two hours in a cinema: numb arse, smell of stale popcorn, other people...
Tempted to go looking online for a torrent for this but don't dare, only one internet service provider where I live so don't want to get divorced from the Web by the internet police!
I wouldn't worry, Nick. I'm quite interested in people's reactions to this film once you've all been to see it. Kermode and other reviewers have said that you don't have to be a F1 fan to enjoy it because it's just a good documentary film. The version I saw (intercut with lots of interviews) would in no way appeal to non-F1 fans.
Excellent opportunity to bump this thread three days before the movie is released: Interview with Senna director Asif Kapadia. That's 3 days to go, y'all. It's in the Calendar.
I'll be going to watch that with me brother this Friday, can't wait since it's about time a real F1 film came out.
Well I am going this Friday with a non-F1 fan and a mild F1 fan so I have got the whole spread covered. Can't wait.
I have no interest in hype whatsoever. For this reason I have no interest in the film whatsoever, until it appears on my TV screen at a time when I've nothing better to do.
To be fair, 9 cinemas in the whole country isn't that many! I'm in Sheffield, so I make it 135 miles to the nearest place showing it! I think I'll have to wait to go home to Norwich for the summer.
Its Facebook page claims more screenings throughout June, including (yay!) Sheffield on 11 June. Nationwide release is promised from 21 June.
If I could rep you for that Genji, I would. Cheers for finding that out. I'll definitely be going to that then when its out here.
In Sheffield it is definitely showing at the Showroom Cinema. In Edinburgh I know it is showing at Vue Cinema so I am guessing it will be showing at Vue cinemas nationwide as well. I have just checked and it is also playing at Cineworlds and Odeons. So in short it should be on everywhere. Release date 3rd June.
Interestingly, @5LiveF1 tweeted it ten minutes after I posted it. You don't think...? please log in to view this image
