It seems the story about us offering £2m + a player was wide of the mark and we didn't actually go above a cash bid of £1.75m. The way it was reported here, is that Leicester suggested that we might have more joy if we bid cash + Hobbs for Schmeichel, but we decided against it. That said, it does seem that Hobbs was offered to Brum on loan, but they wouldn't pay the loan fee required, so it would seem he is available.
Wasn't Hobbs your captain last season!? I would be happy with a return for Hobbs, can't see it happening myself though.
He was captain when Bruce came in and he decided not to change it, despite Hobbs being missing for half the season, but Koren was actually captain for over half the games.
No, they won't let us have Hobbs considering we haven't entertained their bids for Schmeichel plus the obvious reluctance to do business with us full stop. I'm not being funny - we all know that it is all well documented.
We know Hull bid twice as Peter Schmeichel confirmed it. The 3rd bid with the player involved was SKY's story which the local media also ran with SKY are hit and miss with their stories so who knows whether they bid or not. On Jack Hobbs situation Hull have just signed Curtis Davies. James Chester is about to sign a new deal and Paul McShane has signed a new deal. Alex Bruce isnt going to leave as he is the managers son. If Hull persist with the 3 centre halfs across the back 5 then Hobbs might still have a future there as they will need 5 centre half's. If they want to go 442 or rotate the formation across the season then it does appear Jack Hobbs' days are numbered. We all know Nigel is a big fan of Jack Hobbs and with Jermaine Beckford on the verge of leaving it will allow Nigel to go into the transfer market and centre half's will be top priority
If we go with three centre backs it will probably be Chester, Davies and Figeuroa(with Elmohamady and Brady as the wing backs), if we go for a back four, it will probably be Elmohamady, Chester, Davies and Figeuroa. There's a chance that the back three could be Chester, Davies and Hobbs, with Figeuroa playing left wing back, but it's less likely and I expect Hobbs to be on the bench for us next season, I'd put Faye ahead of him, which is probably why he's available.
Why would KS go through a season of picking the ball out of the net & having the worst GA & GD in the prem ? besides that, it would kill his back & give him problems in later life. It just ain´t worth it is it.
I'm very pleased with it, we lack a bit of pace at the back and he offers us that, he also chips in with a few goals. In fact, as things currently stand, he's got a better goal scoring rate than most of our strikers.
I'm undecided on him, sometimes he looks totally collected, sometimes at sea. Not sure whether he is Prem class, but then again, I don't suppose anyone gives a big fat hairy **** what I think haha! I hope he does well for you.
And you come up with that how? Chris Wood scored 21 last season, David Nugent got 16 for the 2nd consecutive season Matty Fryatt's best tally in a season is 16 with 13 being his 2nd best at this level So how is he going to all of a sudden score at least 23 goals in a side that struggled to create chances and take them? We all know Fryatt is quite wasteful aswell
If he was "well up for it" then why didnt he push the move through? Kasper might have been interested had the opportunity arose but it didnt as you didnt meet the asking price
Never quite get the hype about nugent very overrated in my opinion , as for wood god knows what you did to him in the second half of the season because his goal return was ****e
