Agreed. Austin and Hooper are hardly bank breakers. Interesting that the WBA chairman says that they have have had No Bids for Odemwingie so far.
Sky Bet currently have us favourites for 2 strikers: Austin (1/3) and Hooper (10/11) They have also linked us to: Odemwingie - 4/1 Bent - 4/1 Di Santo - 7/1 Huddlestone - 10/1 (YES PLEASE!) Le Fondre - 10/1
He won't be fit until October. If we were ever going to move for him, I'd have thought we'd loan him in January till the end of the season and then assess whether or not he'd be worth buying.
Spending 21 million on 8 players sounds good but i think the wages would more than double that. One player on 20000 p/wk is one million a season, 3 year contract is 3 million x that by 8 players is another 24 million. Of course none of us no the wages some may be on less others if they cost a lot will want more but as we all know paying the transfer fee is only a small part of any deal for a premier league player these days.
I spoke to a mate of mine last night who is a Burnley supporter and does have some connections within the club, he said that they will let him go at £5m, so I guess both sides are not far apart now.
