The mess was apparently on the floor of the toilet cubicle and it was said it appeared that whoever had attempted to clean it up. This is from the Crystal Palace side. So what Brighton believe must be something along the lines that Gus did and dirty and Tarricco tried and failed a cover up. What is clear is that Brighton feel they have behaved properly claiming that Poyet knew what was going on. I think it may be semantics. Maybe the on air message was a confirmation of sacking and Gus is not being totally honest when he says he was unaware. He obviously was part of a long investigation and talks about the situation with Brighton and must of know Sunday night they way the wind was blowing. He couldn't be totally surprised.
