Afternoon, troops. I’m sure, like everyone else on the forum, right now I’m mournfully lamenting re the appalling prizemoney at Newbury, this evening. Less than £31k for the entire card! Oh British racing what has become of thee!
This eve actually sees racing at 2 of my most fave venues namely the above mentioned track in Royal Berkshire and a fixture at God’s own racecourse, Newton Abbot. Lovely to see a ‘Selling Hurdle’ back on the old agenda here and there are sure to be more plots than in an Agatha Christie novel contained therein. I must say though that the combination of the Pipe’s and a horse named after a Bond villain could be enough to see old boy Hugo Drax home. Certainly if Daddy Martin’s ‘magic fridge’ is employed there will be a lot more skulduggery than dear old 007 has ever seen!
Nothing for me today after all that rambling but it’s interesting that Mr Henderson has kept Lieutenant Miller in Saturday’s ‘Richard Pitman’s Derby’ following yesterday’s latest entry stage. After the old boys heroics in the ‘Ascot Stakes’ if he’s brought out again so soon the hint should be taken as the only other time the horse has been turned out again within in an 11 day window he duly romped, I say duly romped, home.
Good luck all.
