Personally I don't like the way the current regime does business. Not only are there leaks and spills but the worst thing is they're announcing signings as we make them. I'd much rather keep everything secret and surprise our opposition with who we've got. It'd be nice to turn up to a game to find out you've got a new player again like the good old days as well.
Sports reporter on the Birmingham Mail... Colin Tattum ‏@colintattum apart when lost little focus at season start & carried injury, Hull have, for me, signed division's best all-round defender for past 2 years
He captained them a few times, but Stephen Carr is the club captain until he's released/retires on the 1st of July. After that it will probably be Paul Robinson or Hayden Mullins. Suppose it depends on how much game time Hobbs and Koren will get, but he's probably a good choice for the armband.
“I never thought the day would come when I was looking forward to the first day of pre-season!” Those are the words of Curtis Davies as the defender looks forward to the next chapter of his career with Hull City. The 28-year-old defender joined the Tigers on a three-year deal on Tuesday, leaving Birmingham for an undisclosed fee. Davies is now looking forward to meeting up with his new team-mates for the start of pre-season training next month and is excited at the prospect of his new challenge. “I was actually due to start pre-season with Birmingham yesterday,” Davies told TIGERS Player. “So I’ve got an extra few days to wait now. That doesn’t mean I won’t be doing anything, though, as I’ll be doing plenty of running as I try to get myself as fit as possible ready for the first day of pre-season here. “I want to hit the ground running and, in general, I think it’s very important that the team does the same when the season starts as well.” The season, of course, will get underway in mid-August when the Tigers travel to Chelsea to get their Barclays Premier League campaign underway. As well as the infrastructure and surroundings of the club impressing Davies so much during negotiations, the former Aston Villa man admits the chance to play top flight football was also a huge factor in his decision to join the Tigers. “I’ve been lucky enough to play in the top flight before and after having a couple of years back in the Championship, I felt as though I had done all that I could in that league. “It feels like the right time to move back up to the Premier League and try and show how good a player I am. If I can do that, hopefully it can help towards the team having a good season. “One of the things you need in the Premier League is a real togetherness as a team and from what I’ve seen, the squad here is a very tightly-knit one. That will be important. “No doubt the season will be a tough one for us and people will be saying things about us having just come up from the Championship. But if we stay together and play to our ability, then we can have a good season. “Home games are going to be massive for us. If the crowd here can get the KC Stadium rocking, then there is no reason why we can’t give this league a good go.” There were other factors that also convinced Davies that a move to East Yorkshire was right for him, including the chance to play under manager Steve Bruce, a long-time admirer of the centre back, and the former West Brom star can’t wait to play for a man he admired whilst growing up. “I’m looking forward to playing for the manager,” added Davies. “The main thing for me is that he was a centre half and was one of the best around during his time as a player. “Hopefully I can learn from him and anything that I do learn to make me a better player will also help the team.”
Don't know if this has been mentioned since Davies signed permanently but Birmingham Telegraph are reporting that Hobbs has gone the other way on loan. Nothing mentioned from our end. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...rees-2.25-million-deal-for-Curtis-Davies.html
Chester Hobbs Davies Faye McShane Bruce Figueroa Dudgeon Brady Rosenior Elmo Defence sorted now then? I think so.
Very true John. Well Steve Bruce said that he wants 7 players in so now that Figueroa - Davies are now Hull City players that leaves 5 players to sign up. 2 x GK which i assume one will be McGregor, 1 x ? midfielder and 2 strikers to complete the squad before pre-season / season starts. Still think that a couple of loans at least will arrive before the end of August.
