Who cares.? When we play Inter and / or the like i want it to be a game that means something. Also are not Inter in London for other games ? Very good John. Winterton and Ferriby are always the pick of pre-season and not for the football.
What - so you genuinley dont care if we play Barnet or Benfica in a pre season friendly? Port Vale or Valencia? Hitchin or Hamburg? Aldershot or Ajax? Sod it then, lets have all the least glamorous friendlies possible against teams who have never won anything.
They're just friendlies. Leicester always have big glamorous pre season friendlies; they've played Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and have big spenders Monaco playing at the KP this year and must have some of the best PR people out there. We're playing Al-Ahly this summer; that's a pretty big deal, they're probably the biggest club in Africa at the moment and shouldn't be discredited as a nobody team. Hopefully they'll bring a large following and we can have a big old piss up with our Egyptian comerades (if they can drink!)
You sound like a Leeds/Celtic fan there. Who cares what they've won? Yeah it'd be nice to play a top foreign team now and then but it's not worth worrying about IMO.
I watched them play Fiorentina a few years back. Cracking game. Anyway, we played a team that won the Champions league within the last decade a couple of years back.
Is it safe to assume it'll be at somewhere like Stamford Bridge, the Emirates or will they push the boat out for Wembley or the Olympic Stadium? It's about making money for the Port Said victims families, so the more seats the better. Publicity will be key for it.
An Egyptain team v Hull City and you think they might go for Wembley? I know it's for charity, but it's simply not enough of a pull, it's more likely to be Loftus Road or Craven Cottage, that's if it does end up being in London.
Craven Cottage is only a bit bigger than the KC and Loftus Road only seats 18,000 odd. They might as well have it at the KC if they aren't going to push for something a bit bigger. Obviously the draw to English people wouldn't be massive, but I imagine that, given it's purpose, if it was advertised in Egypt the right way, you'd get a lot of people going. I'd have thought that the point of it (outside of charity) would be to have their team play the friendly and have their directors shown round our club and treated by the Allams. We clearly have a great relationship with them; maybe offer 100 free tickets to Egyptian fans in the UK as a gesture?
That's great, it means extending the holiday It's against a decent team too. Timing of this thread was everything.
Could we somehow combine a friendly with Feyenoord with re modelling Castle street as those strapping Dutch lads could help to clear the rubble. Noticed a video of some dutch fans leaving a match at the New Den.Strangely the Wall lads seem to have cacked themselves and not turned up. Can you let me know if such a game is arranged so I can organise a holiday(a better excuse than cowardice)
But youve just said exactly what I did!!!! Where did I 'worry about it'? It was hardly a panic stricken rant.
