Isn't one of the reasons that Barca have such a successful current team is that they all came though the youth system together?
It makes sense to me to have a lot of good youth players playing together from early in there career so that when they make the first team they are all on the same wavelength in terms of tactics and style. The problem is this is you don't know who will progress enough to reach the first team so you have to hedge your bets with a few players.

As we can't compete for the top players at the moment this is the only way we will build a title challenging team, the success rate of the young players maybe low but if a few get there then we will be in a much better position.

 

i think barca are so successful cos they have 3 great players in xavi, iniesta and messi... plus HAD hunger. the rest are no more than anyone else, it helps to have a two horse league too...

they got the 3 there.... the point i had made is we've got way too many similar players and are actively bringing them into the squad ahead of guys we have brought in at the same age. tiexteria would be better going home right now and suso at best gets a loan after the u20s.... hell i could see coutinho on the bench next.... then we have one out and out front man and thats my problem really. I can't see stelring or ibe getting much game time while i can see us missing sturridge WHEN he's either off his game or just injured cos he does both, a lot.

Speaking of Barca, I've just come back from there for a stag do!

Looks like Aspas and Alberto are confirmed with Mignolet is pretty much sorted. 3 signings that will improve the squad depth but still feel that we're 2 BIG players away from mounting a serious challenge. Mkhi is looking more and more likely but there are still questions over the CB position.

have LFC moved on from Mkhitaryan? After me bothering to learn his name the guy has rubbished reports linking him and we've not agreed a fee or anything. It would seem we've moved to other targets now.

oh and on the CB, toure is not an answer there. we need skertl out and a big signing in. rodgers has made this bed so he's got to lay in it.

Encouraging - Echo are saying that Victor Wanjyama is highly regarded by LFC but any move for the player is premature.

Whilst I think he should be considered as a high priority, I think Rodgers would rather strengthen other areas before considering a move for Wanywama. There were also rumours that Henderson would be sold in order to fund that however the Echo has also dismissed that (thankfully).

 

Shelvey and Spearing should be used to fund any transfers before Hendo.

add in possibly Reina,Downing as well, that's 4 players who should or will go before him hopefully, probably a few i have missed, but they are the obvious ones, i hope lol

Yeah I understand what you guys are saying but I personally think he's a good player and is exactly what we need. Will provide strength and energy as a DM and competition for Lucas, and he's also very young. Standout performer against Barcelona in the Champions League

 

Can't really compare Jelavic and Wanyama.
