Bit of an experiment this, but I thought we could have a thread where members can discuss general topics, away from horse racing. I'm aware this could cause some heated debate but thought it good to have a forum to discuss current affairs. Thanks to the powers granted to me I've stickied it, but will obviously moderate the thread responsibly. Some topics outside Horse Racing are of sufficient interest to warrant their own dedicated threads. The index to all Non Horse Racing threads can be found here Anyways, let's see how it goes. Here's my starter for 10: Edward Snowden is being hunted down like a dog by the USA. Memories of the Will Smith film "Enemy Of The State" are recalled. Now he has fled to Russia and we have US Senators warning of "grave consequences". What the ****????? He's blown the whistle on the US government spying on anything and everything and now they are after his blood. Un-fecking-believeable. Makes me feel very afraid of the way the world is heading.
good idea, hopefully wont attract the nutters from the general tread!went to see world war z there, was ok,doesnt hold a candle to 28 days later.
I feel impelled to write this, went to see Man of Steel with one of my kids. What an absolute total and utter waste of time.I implore anyone not go and see, what can only be described as a bone crunching and head banging attack on the senses. God only knows how much this dross cost to produce, but they got it badly wrong.I could write 10000 words on what was wrong with this movie, but i only need a few...go and watch the original Superman to see how it should have been done........rant over.
Like a lot of people he might prefer to be cremated. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
Music Festival Night at Saint Lo (20 mins away). My son came over and went with Amanda. Apparently a fantastic free evening of disco, live music and fireworks. The firework display was something else with waterfall like display all down the town wall. Firework display
That's pretty good Ron!....it's not Oban though
Snowden to be found dead in mysterious circumstances within a calendar month, authorities are not treating the death as suspicious
Shame about the dodgy techno mix. ****e music gets everywhere these days. What's wrong with a bit of Handel?
Though if you read this article on Putin and Robert Kraft, he has a very exclusive American piece of jewellery... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...ir-putin-stole-super-bowl-ring-130732690.html I think he wants them to be like America but keep the Red Flag waving at the same time...!!! He will be asking to take a look inside the Federal Bank next, just for a bit of a nose, then take the keys and say its his... Then again he could be like Berluscoli...
The disco and live music was on a stage by the river, mostly English. It's strange here; all the supermarkets and horse shows etc play English songs. Is it the same in Germany?
To some extent yes Ron. It's the universal, pappy techno-mix nonsense you get everywhere (the pinnacle being the awful "gangnam style").
.......a very good idea as the good old Daily Thread looks like it is going to vanish without trace on some days? Maybe BostonianBob and the GlasgowMeister might be a tad displeased though, we'll have to wait and see. P.S. Russian classical music is hard to beat. Inspiring; some of it makes me want to draw my trusty sword and fight (who? I dunno). please log in to view this image
To mix two replies in a techno, gangnam fashion - music by the Dropkick Murphies - punk and bagpipes, it doesn't get much better
