http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restau...on_Hull_East_Riding_of_Yorkshire_England.html No. 51 out of 254 eating places reviewed locally. (FFS, what must number 251 be like?) Note A&M Fisheries of Hessle High Rd is the top chippy
Think some of the ratings have been 'got at' by owners. 'Chicken George' on Anlaby Rd don't appear to have the most sophisticated clientele.
Personally think trip advisor is useless, once registered myself at my own workplace and spoke very highly of my services, was called into ky managers office and praised highly for said messages. A good just-eat review is always quite honest, although rendering this comment pointless I've always liked pizza peepers
The higher the placing on Trip Advisor doesn't mean a better quality of dining experience - it simply means more people have been online to rate it than other places. If you owned a restaurant and were bright enough to do so, you'd offer a 10% discount to all Trip Advisor members and place an iPad with Trip Advisor open on the table when you take the bill, simply to give them the option. Even if only half the people did it, you'd soon be at no.1 on Trip Advisor in your area (providing your food is half-decent enough to get a positive reaction). At least that's how I think it works, someone was telling me there is a way to cheat the Trip Advisor system anyway.
I've never even heard of the restaurant that came top. Edit: The fact that Bob Carvers is at #107 probably tells you all you need to know. And how long has Ottringham been in Hull?
13 is in Warehouse 13 - meant to be really good. Good food, but nothing amazing, but it's reflected back in the price - decent food at a decent price in really good surroundings; the building is great with it's original features. The bloke who owns it is chef and he used to run PortSide Bistro (now Da Vinci's) - I ate there whilst it was open and thought the food was good quality for the price paid. We got meal vouchers and then it closed down due to water damage (a pipe leaked or something) the owner was nice enough to swap our vouchers for money so we could go elsewhere and showed us around 13 whilst it was being renovated - you could see the potential then.
I wonder where Yorkshire Pizza or Marmaris Kebab came. I noticed that's reopened now after they closed it down due to a failed assessment by the authorities.
Honestly anyone who buys food from a fast food joint has only themselves to blame. Hygiene standards are north of satisfactory.
“Go if you like being slated and a large sense of being consumed by a fat slob” Reviewed 9 June 2013 via mobile No joke , this place is poor, the owner, is a fat slob with a un kept facial hear, he even missed the 6 yard bath of hot flubbery fat and dropped my fish , then picked it up and then put it in the fat, and served me it, i refused to pay and he insulted me repeatedly , i then yelled a hoard of remarks about his weight and appearance, and left with my money, the girl at the front was nice though , she needs to get away from that choad Visited March 2013 (That's Atlantis 1 on Anlaby High Rd by the way.) What any foreigners visiting Hull and trying to identify likely dining venues, make of these remarks is anybody's guess!
