    From today's Daily Express:

Cardiff City take giant step to landing Blackpool's Tom Ince after agreeing fee

CARDIFF CITY are blinkering on a move for Blackpool's Tom Ince after a fee was agreed between the two sides.

Tom Ince is inching closer to joining Cardiff City

Though the size of the fee is undisclosed, it is believed a deal in his place for Ince to make the switch to south Wales.

Ince was at the centre of the bidding war in January, with Liverpool and Reading both harbouring a strong interest in the 21-year-old.

And earlier this month, Ince was coy about his Bloomfield Road future, when he said: "Sometimes it’s about timing. I’ll sit down with my dad and the chairman and talk through what is best for me.”

Ince flourished for the Tangerines last term, notching up 18 goals in the Championship.

Dumb question this, really, but someone remind me again why we aren't trying to buy him back for £8mil?

Because, once the clause is activated, he'll be about 20-25% cheaper to us than anyone else. And 18 goals from the wing is about 17 more than Downing gives us...

do we really need to waste money on strengthening that position (if its strengthening) when we have enough options already and better choices.

money to add to the pot to strengthen other areas ie CB,LB DM etc.

also while those stats are impressive they are only Championship stats not prem, so no guarantees be the same or similar.

if its 8mil as was reported then is 2.8mil or so... which is fine. if paul ince wants to hock his son round the crap clubs to work his way up rather tha ndo a proper job with him fine. I'd rather stay well away from this guy.

No guarentees, agreed, but United spent far more on Zaha and his stats were worse by far.

This must suck if you're Thomas Ince. You're being linked with Liverpool & Spurs but neither follow up interest as Blackpool are being greedy with the fee... They hold on to you expecting for these huge clubs to come back with the money but they dont... the fee is then eventually matched but by Cardiff - you go from potentially joining Liverpool or Tottenham to joining Cardiff... if it were me i'd be disappointed.

No disrespect to Cardiff but if I were offered £20k a week to join Spurs or £30k a week to join Cardiff, I'd join Spurs every time

If he's as good as they all think and plays up a level in the PL this year. He'll be at Cardiff for a year only.

Sky sources understand that Cardiff City have agreed a fee with Blackpool for winger Tom Ince.

The 21-year-old - son of Blackpool boss Paul - has flourished at Bloomfield Road since moving from Liverpool in the summer of 2011.

His performances have attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, with a dramatic return to Anfield believed to have been close last January.

That move never materialised but Blackpool's failure to secure a return to the top flight last season meant it was always going to be a struggle to keep the England Under-21 international should Premier League clubs come calling.

Cardiff, who ran away with the Championship title last term, have yet to dip into the transfer market this summer as they plan for their first-ever Premier League campaign.

But an agreement is now believed to be in place to bring Ince to south Wales.

  14. TBF, going to a club like Cardiff (a lesser Premier League side) could help him develop a lot more than being with us or Spurs <ok>

Ince was never good enough for LFC, that's why we sold him.

  16. Not baiting me, I think we let him go for a reason...Suso and Sterling are better!

oh give over, spurs and liverpool have a track record of paying over the odds for young players, as if LFc would quibble over a few million. the truth is if bigger clubs like spurs and liverpool were interested they'd buy him, a few years at a club like ours and he can move on like moses of wigan, no problem with that.

what good would it do for him to sit on your bench when he can come and play here every week in one of the most professional squads in the PL. we may surprise a few people this year.....

well he left us as he wanted first team football, so i don't see why he wouldn't go to Cardiff which is obviously a improvement on his current psositon and get prem experience.

maybe what he needs as he will be playing at a higher level and not so much pressure on him as he would get here or at Spurs to perform week in week out.

we have seen with Sterling form up and down, if he goes there less pressure and can play his natural game, then we will see if he can match his stats from the Championship, i do hope Cardiff would have brought the better player out of him and Zaha, that would be funny and half the price lol.

Am I missing something, why would we get any money? We got a small compensation package when he left for Blackpool as we offered him a contract, I don't think we would get any future sell on fee though?
