Neither do i, infact Barton is easily my favourite player at the moment and even if Ashley is serious about turning us into a club with an excellent youth center i still would have kept him but you have to look at the upsides. Cabaye is coming in who as far as i'm aware has the potential to be very good

 

You need a mixture of youth and experience

Our youth are talented but they'd be crushed without insperational players like Nolan/Barton

Ok forgot about him but not while he's been here, I think Barton should be signed up, but that nothing to do with what any other player is offered.

It's simple, Ashley doesn't want too many players eating his wallet on 50k wages, but the fact of the matter is, Barton pays back that money with interest by the way he plays!!

All the players in question would have been an easy deal to sort out though. Nothing big and all low wages so minimal negotiating. Barton's will require negotiation once offered(if offered which i hope it is!) and is bound to drag on like it has.

 

He's a CB on low wages though. He'll be able to play for years. And is only cheap.

 

That's exactly why Mike Ashley gives them 5 year contracts, so he doesn't have to spend alot on his wages.

50k a week is nowt to Ashley, if Tiote deserves 50k a week so does Barton.

 

These are all players whose contracts will be for quite low wages (relatively speaking of course), naturally the 'big' players contracts will be negotiated with more care.
