With all this talk of tv shows i thought this was the transfer thread!

Mad Dogs is good. Gonna watch the 3rd series soon.
I'm another in the camp that hasn't seen a single Sopranos episode, although i do have them. I started BE and only got about 3 eps in before getting bored. I assume he gets better then?
GoT also a fave, not seen 3rd season though.

Theres a scene with the black guy Chalky, when he sits the leader of the KKK down, which changes the show from a potentially good one, into a fantastic one. Think its 5 or 6 episodes in. Think that monologue got me properly hooked on it.

Well done Lions, you showed the Aussies how to play rugby. Mind you had they converted penalties etc you'd have lost......................lucky or what?

Both sides played very good rugby, we gave away some silly penalties away and deserved to lose. Why, when a team is in front with a couple of minutes to play, do they try and waste time by keeping the ball in the tight? It is beyond me. Get it out, make sure of support, form a decent ruck and you will kill three times as much time and almost certainly hang on to possession. The coaches need to take a good look at themselves, it was like trying to watch Spurs defend a one goal lead.

I don't know whether it's because the times Lawrenson is speaking means that insufferable twat, Jonathan Pearce, isn't but I'm starting to like him as a commentator.

    Dante was offside, surely?

I agree. Luckily, my wife was outside when that last penalty occurred - you could just see it coming! The Lions were trying to run the clock down, I'm sure it was them bringing the scrum down, and you could see the referee was getting pissed off. I thought, any second now he's going to ping The Lions for something here. Sure enough! ....I flew out of my chair and pumped numerous amounts of F's into the air..might have been a few C's in there as well.

As you say, why oh why do they do it? Especially within kicking distance of their own posts!..

I see the insufferable twat Pearce has ditched the ludicrous Italian accent when saying there names in this match. Someone had a word perhaps! he sounded a right James Hunt commentating their last match v Japan. It was like an Italian version of Shteve McClarens Dutch accent! <laugh>

I wrote that too at first but realised I should probably clarify which one I meant as clearly Stuart Pearce and "Pearce" Morgan also count.

Brazil looking devastating in short bursts but their defending is ****e.

Not sure how Lawro and Pearce think the ref made the right decision for the Italy goal there. He must've blown his whistle so he had to give a pen, he couldn't let them play on after that. Bizarre.

If you look at England's rugby team and think back it has lost two cup finals on penalties. England lost 9-10 at Twickers in 95 I think it was and in 2007 gave The Springboks 30 points in the two matches against them,15 in penalties in the final. Dickheads. Now there's English influence in The Lions and lo and behold effing stupid penalties. It's a bit like the England football team as I've said many times giving away stupid free kicks in stupid places. I like watching rugby but tear my effing hair out at the stupidity of the players.

Thank goodness others think Pearce is an insufferable twat. How can somebody who aspires to punk rock be in charge of a football team?

I wouldn't say that the 07 final loss was due to ill discipline. Penalties are part and parcel of rugby, much more common than football. Very rarely will you not give a bunch away in your own half. SA were much the better side and the pressure tells, in that case by forcing pens. It's not that they were dickheads. In a way they massively over-achieved based on their talent and cohesiveness as a team, the pens were a by-product of being outclassed.
I didn't see the game today so can't comment

Just me watching Mexico vs Japan then?

Hernandez managed to foul himself to get the penalty he missed - he didn't trail the leg looking for a foul, but actually hooked his foot behind him so it got tangled with the defender's leg before hitting the deck.

Dos Santos was Mexico's best player for the first hour.

Even though their defending is ****e,i love watching them, they seem to have what all the Brazil team's in the past had,a does'nt matter how many you score,we will score more, attitude.Don't think it will work against Spain though

That's why the F.A have said to him: "Hey ho, let's go."

And now they're bound to return to choosing the X Factor contestant - a bland clone with no discernable talent, but who will tow the line and do as they're told.

Exactly. I'm surprised that anybody with a half a brain still watches that garbage. Nobody will even remember the winner in 12 months time. A programme created by cynics, participated in by morons, for the benefit of....morons!..

The insufferable twat first referred to was the commentator Jonathan Pearce, though the one you've mistaken is equally worthy of the description. <ok>

Because in 07 the team was absolutely nowhere near the 2nd best team but they got to the final, overachieved. The team was totally different to that of 03. SA on the other hand were the best team.
Rugby is actually quite predictable and form tells. Who were faves in 03? England. 07? SA. 11? NZ. France similarly overachieved in 11

France rarely overachieve - they merely live up to their potential, once in a while. They have massively talented players. However, their discipline, whilst improved, is still poor. And nobody is quicker to get on their own teams' back than the French crowd.

Poyet has been sacked by Brighton.

I wonder if the full story of this saga will ever come out.
