Do we like him or not?
I know i dont, he is so annoying, i dont think he is good enough for Premier League myself, i might get a lot of stick for this but it is just my opinion.

He almost always gives the ball away, cant shoot, cant cross, doesnt make decisions fast enough, the only thing he is good at is outpacing defenders and not doing anything with the ball and getting himself in a mess, every single game he frustrates me so much!

In the championship he was amazing and i thought he was going to do it in the prem also, but in my opinions he has not.

Does anyone agree with me or am i just a negative person, i hope not!

Fair enough, but can you please tell me what you honestly see in him every game?

He can be frustrating sometimes but he does rip most LB's a new one! So I'd have to disagree

Of course we like him!! he is a swans player after all!!

Each to their own but I think Nathen is a cracking player for us, if you expect him to suddenly be a world class player because he made it into the prem league with us then I can see why your perhaps disappointed, ive given Dyer stick from games last year same as I have for many other players but I don't for one minute think he hasn't made a massive contribution to our prem status and acheivements.

All players have mares from time to time but Nathen has been asked to develop different parts of his game this season and he has sometimes found that hard, he is a young player who can still improve massively so I think its a bit too strong to dismiss his abilities.

Remember this is the same player that was taking Ashly cole apart last season along with other so called top level defenders ,just because he is playing in a different role and learning a different style of play doesn't mean that he is not very good, he is in fact one of the better premier league wingers out there and if he was playing for a more established side would probably be an England international by now!!

Swans fans sometimes forget that we are small time in a massive league, Dyer is a cracking little player with a big future, I personally think this OP is a load of tosh but I respect the fact that people see things different from time to time.

Im also sure the OP probably thought Nathen Dyer was the best thing since sliced bread a couple of seasons ago, short memories and a lack of understanding of what players are being asked to do on the field means we need to suffer guff like this from time to time <ok>

Sorry if my views are harsh, I just think people are starting to leave all sense of reality. If the post was about Tate or Monk I could understand but while Nathen hasn't had his best season its purely because he is learning a different job and Laudrup has been developing him as a player and taking him out of his comfort zone,a player needs support not off season stick for being willing to adapt and learn while doing it in the hardest league in the world :)

Wow! You literally just changed my opinion in one post, although i still think at the moment he is VERY fristrating you have made me realise that i am being a bit negative towards him. I hope he makes me look like a fool next season!

Once he learns how to cross the ball I think he will be great. I do like him but his job is to get past players and deliver a decent ball. This is the part of his game that is lacking. Bottom line is he is a winger and his job in the main is to get past that defender and deliver. I think this season has probably been his most frustrating hopefully this season he has been practicing. I hope so as I do love his pace and used to get excited when he got the ball. Mind you for what we paid for him we cant complain to much

Your views are valid mate, he has been gash at times this season but of course so has Ash Williams,Pablo, routs, leon,Rangel,Vorm etc, etc.

Perhaps its more of a case of us expecting too much of our players who overall are playing for us because nobody else really wanted them, the progression shown by the likes of rangel, williams and dyer has been quite staggering when you consider the massive jump in class in the prem league.

I agree that frustrating is the correct word, I feel it after watching games this season, especially in the heat of the moment !! I enjoy the more constructive criticism of after game threads where things are very fresh and players shortcomings have been shown up, but as sure as night follows day a poor display by an individual is often followed by a sterling performance!! and there in lies the reason why these boys play for the Swans and not Man utd or Chelsea.

Our players can match the best no problem but they cant do it consistently, its why we get so frustrated and forget our selves from time to time. No player wants to go out and play poor but in all our criticism we forget that they are normally up against world class opposition!

Dyer has had an ok season and is at a cross roads IMO. He needs to add to his game and is working on it, one thing I will say about him is that sometimes his petulance has got the better of him and that is quite an ugly thing to see from such a bubbly player, it shows that he is trying, perphaps a bit too hard to succeed in his new position of playing inside.

Another example of trying a bit too hard is Pablo, all the talent in the world and simple passes just bounce off his shin !! these players are sometimes in a no win situation, when they try too hard to impress they get a bit of stick and if they don't try hard enough and try to relax they get stick for not trying hard enough !!..<laugh>

I put both Nathen and Pablo in the bracket of trying a bit too hard to impress at times and confidence has taken a knock, I know for sure that Nathens confidence took a knock when he wasn't garenteed his starting place in the team, that took a bit of adjustment for him,add that to playing a new role in the team as well as playing up front and you can see why he was sometimes all over the place <cheers> :)

All he needs is the final ball (crossing/shooting) in his repertoire and he'd be 100 times better

His shooting improved massively last season from the season before. He didn't have the best of seasons, but maybe that was due to a new record signing coming in and he thought that was it for him?

He annoyed me last season, but when on form can beat anyone. Cracking player that I'd rather in our team than against our team.

It's been said above ... Final product: Crossing, shooting, and final pass after all the hard work has been done sometimes borders on the comical - if it wasn't so frustrating for us and him. Much better to keep it simple and be more effective in the final and most important piece.

The one area of his game where he can definitely approve is not to sulk when something doesn't work or he gets the ball taken away or gets bumped harder than he thought the ref would allow - we've all seen him stop dead, throw is arms up in the air and just watch - much too often. Much better for everybody if he worked off his frustration by hustling back and competing for the ball he just lost - every time.

Having said that there are also times when he takes a pounding and cleverly comes away with the ball - so he's got the tools just needs a little attitude adjustment.
