I thought London was your second home?

(Gosh, how many have you got?)

Some of them may indeed be true, but I shall take continue your anecdotes with a pinch of salt. Like your attendance at HCFC in the 1970s for example......

Flogged my London home over a year ago, it's no longer a home at all.

You can take my anecdotes any way you like, I don't need to justify my City attendances to anyone, least of all you.

    You knew him then?

I have many friends of Pakistani descent. They take the line that Paki is short for Pakistani, much like Scot is short for Scotsman. They are amused by the fact that people who call them Paki are calling them "Clean" as by inference the "caller" is dirty. They are less bothered by the epithet then my Scottish friends are by being called "Scotch" which is a drink.

You seem determined to take umbrage on behalf of all Pakistan (though they are well capable of looking after themselves - an "ethnic minority" of 180,000,000 people) so try this, a favourite of one of my British "Pakistani" friends:-

"I can't see the big deal with calling a Pakistani a Paki. It's just the same as calling an Australian an Aussie, a Scotsman a Scot or a Frenchman a ****."

Feel free to be outraged on behalf of the French.

I didn't know him, he died many years before I was born, I was just suggesting that the fact the he coined the name Pakistan, didn't mean he was happy for it's residents to be called Paki's.

Neither am I an expert on Pakistan, maybe it's residents don't mind being called Paki's, perhaps I've got it all wrong and they all find it hilarious.

I haven't taken umbrage to anything, I believe it to be a derogatory term and therefore believe it best not to use it, if others find it acceptable, then that's completely up to them.

At least they're not ever going to be called French.

Yes it really upsets me actually. I'm offended, and must therefore be a pain in the arse for days and make sure everyone knows about it.

Here's some advice - silly words on an internet forum and you doing 'something about it' doesn't make you superior, it makes you a twat.

If you want to make the world a better place; volunteer to help those in war zones, give blood, donate to charity etc -but crusading on Not606? Do me a favour.

    Sorry if this upsets you.

I'll tell you why it's all kicking off, it's because Carmine's not been around for awhile.

Old voice of reason that he is. Even Chazz has descended into deep thought on subjects other than booze, food, women or football.

    Strange times indeed.

Pakistanis may not mind being called pakis, but when uneducated fools call everyone from the sub continent a paki as a cover all term, I can tell you the Indians I know and have worked with find it most offensive.
As amusing as it is reading different people's views, I was surprised this thread was still open when I popped on

Edit: indeed not only Indians but Brits of Indian desent, I don't mean to be racist :emoticon-0111-blush

    To answer the original question:

    http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/a_to_c/communications_offences/#an12

Also, if the police wanted records and details of users on here, Mick WILL hand them over regardless of where he lives.

Just because someone designates a forum "free for all" does not give anyone at all free license to post anything that breaks the law. I've seen stuff on here that could easily result in as a minimum a fine and quite possibly worse, and as the owner Mick is responsible for the users on this forum.

This applies to Scottish posters too btw.
