Tell me about it always used to complete teams like Coventry and West Ham. The old Division One 1988-89 season was my first one it funnily enough included the Scottish League too most of the players over there looked like they had either escaped from Broadmoor or were from some Finnish Folk band.

Shoot! league ladders! I used to try and update them as the results came in. I think Subbuteo did something similar too. Don't remember Wembley or Soccerama but I recall Football Manager board game and a dice game which you could get from football magazines like Shoot!. I think I had a football game called Grand Slam before my Subbuteo set. Looking back, the name Grand Slam was a rather odd choice for a football game.

You're right Northampton... I had no bother filling the English teams, it was always the bloody Jock teams that i couldn't complete! Like Aberfeckingdeen!

Yes! Used to while away the days before the start of the season producing bizarre and surreal looking league tables. My favourite was making Workington English League champions

Back on-topic, we had the poor man's subutteo, Waddington's table football. Used to flick a counter with the base of the figure, like tiddlywinks.
