The perils of surveys I'm afraid.

To be used or dismissed depending on your point of view.

    Why was it totally irrelevant?

Are you saying your personal anecdotal evidence trumps the Wall St journal?

I'm afraid I'm going to have to offer up that old comment about not having to have been somewhere to know something to be true.

(I'm looking for closure on this thread soon as there appears to be little real debate just peeved mud-slinging and grandstanding. Very few chinks of daylight to illuminate the knuckledragging discourse. Anyone wishing to continue it or offer any meaningful opinion, perhaps PM me offline rather than embarrass yourself in public and bore everyone.Thankyou.)

If you did a bit more research then just posting that bollocks you posted your argument might have some credence. That what you posted makes you look an idiot!

Now you could find some discrimination towards Nepalese, Indians, Indonesians, Pakistanis and Filipinos in Hong Kong but that is for you to argue.

I thought this thread would perish without any replies.
My concern was whether there could be any come back against anyone writing things which might be regarded as racist or homophobic.
In many professions being found guilty of such an action would have pretty devastating effects on career prospects.
I think the terms refered to in earlier posts could be worthy of investigation by the authorities.
I have either got things very wrong or City Agro has.
A test case might help to clarify where we stand in the eyes of the law.
I thought that remarks which could lead to the perpetuation of prejudices could lead to prosecution.
To compare the phrases used with "yorkie" imo shows an inability to pick up pretty clear societal signals and I feel we need some clarification.

I'm saying that Hong Kong is my second home and has been for thirty years, so yes I probably do know more than someone at a New York newspaper and I definitely know more than some keyboard warrior from Hull.

Rather then copy one link and paste it with a short sentence you should maybe research more and back up your argument! I am all for looking at others opinions and views but that what you posted with the survey want a good argument.

Personally don't think there's anything wrong with the word 'paki' as its just an abbreviation, but chink is a far worse and deliberately racist word conjured up to cause offence.

Obviously paki is a sensitive word to some, but as far as I'm concerned its just a misunderstood abbreviation that misguided, cretinous ******s use to describe anyone with a tanned skin colour. It's no different to say a Vietnamese chap calling a Belgian a 'Brit'. It'd just be laughed off, like I know full well Indians laugh off being called a 'paki' because they know the name caller is a ****ing idiot who can't grasp the concept that there is more than one country in Asia/middle east.

The link aggie posted has the headline

"Riot after Chinese teachers try to stop pupils cheating"

Now we all know the Telegraph is aggie's fav newspaper. If the word he used was acceptable, they would have used it. They didnt because its not acceptable. We shouldnt and didnt accept it here. He posted the thread to be deliberately provocative, sad-very sad.

I wasn't aware you were capable of rational deep thought Chazz without it including Helen Flannagans breasts.

    I'm impressed!
